Tommy's head filled with the thoughts of losing her, his eyes darted in all directions, avoiding the contact with Aurora, he became reluctant to hold her hand. Pulling away from her, he could feel his eyes watering and his heart pounding, thump, thump, thump. He couldn't feel his legs anymore and he became dizzy. Stretching out to reach his legs and try and regain feeling, Tommy began coughing and he looked at Aurora.
"Get out!" he yelled at her, he didn't want her to see him like this but she didn't move, not even one little bit. She laughed at him, in a patronising way, and grabbed hold of his hand,
"You know I won't leave you."
Tommy contemplated for a few seconds, he wasn't sure it could get any worse, though, he could have been wrong. His heart monitor started beeping loudly and nurses rushed in around him. the claustrophobia made things even worse, and his coughing became choking, and blood came up out of his throat and into his free hand. He glanced at Aurora before the air climbed out of his throat and escaped out of his mouth. Suffocating him, he returned to utter darkness.
That's all he could remember.
His body made involuntary twitches and with each one Aurora's hope got raised and shattered into a million pieces, was he going to wake up this time?
She rubbed her fingers over his thumb and reminisced on the fond memories she had of holding his hand, full of life. All the dates, all the text messages, all the games, the letters, the long nights crying in his arms. He was the only reason she was still here, he saved her, surely she had to return the favour?
