i wanted to get this out of my drafts so hey
"He really did that?" I laughed at Mitch's story.
"Yeah," he laughed back. "I was talking to this really hot girl, and then Jerome pulled me by my ankles into the pool. The worst part was that I had tried grabbing onto something to stop falling, and I accidentally grabbed her arm. And she had fallen too!"
I burst out laughing again, speaking when it died down. "What happened to the girl?"
"Oh that girl?" Mitch said as we walked down the sidewalk. "She's my girlfriend."
I suddenly stopped, my smile faltering. This is stupid Lux, of course he wouldn't like you back, ever.
I started walking again, trying to compose myself. Mitch probably noticed me fidgeting, as he asked, "Something wrong?"
"No, no." I said, turning red. "Where are we going?"
"I don't know."
I looked at my phone, seeing it was 4:57 p.m. already. "Shit," I mumbled, my eyes widening. "I have to go!"
"What?" Mitch asked. I started running off the other direction, running to Barnes & Nobles. "Wai-Wait!" he yelled after me, following me.
I turned left, and I hear footsteps following me. Luke's going to murder me. He's going to explode. My thoughts suddenly worried me, and I picked up the pace. Several people stared at me, or us, and I just ignored it. My phone started ringing, and I saw the Barnes & Nobles coming into view. A teenager boy moved out of my way, giving me a bad look.
"Lux!" Luke yelled as I got closer. "Lux where the hell have you been? We told Calum to find you, yet Selah said her device shown that your job was done."
"Sorry, sorry," I panted, watching the group come out of the car.
Michael walked towards me, touching my forehead. His hand was freezing, making me cool down.
"Jesus Lu-"
"Lux!" Mitch yelled, catching up. He was breathing heavily, bending over. "You run really fast," he mumbled.
"Who's this?" Michael asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"I'm Mitch Hughes," he breathed out, trying to calm himself down.
Luke's eyes widened, and ran into the van. Selah soon came out, pulling me in. Michael was about to go in too, but Selah already slammed the doors shut. I heard Michael swear, and awkwardly try to start up a conversation with Mitch.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Selah hissed.
"Several things actually," I smiled sheepishly, trying to avoid what she meant.
"Lux!" Luke groaned, running a hand through his hair. "You didn't do your job!"
"He had a girlfriend already," I mumbled softly, crossing my arms. "He doesn't seem like he needs shooting. And besides, he was in an empty alley when I was going to shoot me. If I shot him, he would've fallen in love with me." I sighed
I thought about it more, whispering, "Maybe that should've happened."
Athens' head shot up, her eyes glistening as she stared at me. I bit my lip, praying she didn't just hear that.
"Still you were supposed to shoo-"
"Guys, leave her alone," Athens grumbled, looking back down at her phone.
Ashton stared at her, and stared back at me, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head softly, watching Luke and Selah discuss this problem. "We have to watch him, to see what happens."
"What?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"You will become Mitchell's best friend, or at least keep him close. If something bad happens because you didn't shoot him, shoot him later." Selah looked at me and waited for my response.
"Okay."
Luke pulled open the car door, sliding it to the right. Michael quickly ran in, sitting next to Athens with a groan. "He's annoying."
I walked outside, seeing Mitch smiling at me. I looked back inside the van, Athens getting up and saying, "She wants to hang out with you."
"What?" I shrieked, looking at Mitch.
He blinked twice, until his smile spread across his face. "Uh, sure! I'm sure Bridgette won't mind."
Bridgette? Today?
"Great, she's all yours," Luke said, starting the car.
"Wait, guys!" I started protesting, Calum closing the van. "l, but, wai-"
The car drove off, Selah giving me a wave. They drove off down the street, disappearing. I turned to look at Mitch staring at me, and I blushed. He stared at me for a while, until he said; "You have interesting friends."
The ends of my lips turned up slowly, hoping this wouldn't go so awkward

"My house is right here," Mitch pointed.
His house was actually very cute, a small little cottage-like home. It had a hedge fence, the was about 4-5 feet tall. Vines were on the brick walls, with beautiful flowers scattered on the green grass. They had a giant pink tree in front.
"What tree is that?" I asked, staring at the pink flowers.
"A magnolia tree," he responded, walking through the hedge arch.
I followed him and he opened the door, allowing me to enter. I glanced about at the furniture and smiled at the family photos hung around the room.
"Right this way," Mitch laughed, waving towards me.
I smiled back, trying to catch up. My foot suddenly got caught on something, everything going to fast for me to comprehend. I shut my eyes, bracing for the fall, until I didn't move for several seconds.
I opened my eyes to see Mitch's face centimeters from mine, his eyes wide with shock. I could feel heat going to my cheeks, and I opened my mouth to speak.
But before I could say anything, a high pitched voice interrupted me.
"Mitch?"
