Excitedly, he opened the doors of the asylum. He had spent so long, endless all nighters staying awake to study into the field of psychiatric's had finally paid off. He was finally able to achieve this position.
Park Jimin, fueled by his nerves and excitement, steadily climbed the stairs of Saint Kim's Asylum for the Ill.
He had saw a posting for the institution looking for new nurses one day when he was researching into jobs as his date of graduation was approaching. A week later he accomplished his dream in becoming a nurse in psychiatrics, and luckily the post had still been up, searching for available nurses.
Now here he was, roaming the quiet white walls. He had asked for directions to the director's at the polite secretary in the front. He finds the daunting brown double-doored entrance,, the golden palette beside the door reading Doctor Kim Namjoon.
Taking a moment to compose himself, he takes a deep breath before knocking. A muffled "come in" was heard from the other side. Tugging on his light blue dress shirts collar, he ran a hand through his blonde hair, before turning the knob, stepping in.
A handsome man greets him on the other side. Doctor Kim is standing, looking out of his window, the fluorescent light illuminating his features. He is wearing a maroon turtleneck with a pair of simple black slacks. A stereotypical white doctor's coat is worn over.
"Nurse Park, I presume? I'm the director of Saint Kim's, Kim Namjoon." He steps away from the light, walking up to Jimin, holding his hand out.
"Y-yes, nice to meet you" He held out his hand to shake the director's, smiling widely to hide his stutter.
"I hope we will be able to chat more, but as for now, let's keep it to business" The director pushed his wired rimmed glasses higher up the bridge of his nose before continuing "I will be assigning you to the D quadrant of the institute. Patients listed under 400 reside there. You'll get your patients list tomorrow, as for now, allow me to lead you down to your room."
Jimin only nodded as he followed the taller man out of the office, before walking down the winding hallways. He observed the quiet foyer, the walls painted a dull shade of grey, the flooring made of some kind of marble. His dress shoes making clicking noises against it as he turned the corner.
He observed the numbers and names lining the doors the passed.
... 200...300...400...
"And here we are"
The new nurse nearly bumped into the director as he was too invested in checking the place out.
The doctor pulled out a small simple silver key from his coats pocket, jamming it into the keyhole before turning.
The door opened to reveal a small yet cozy room. A small bed with plain white sheets was in the corner of the room, a brown side table set beside it. The modest sized suitcase Jimin has sent in the previous day set onto the desk in the corner of the room.
"I do hope you find comfort while working here at Saint Kim's. Tomorrow, I'll have your patients list and their medical records sent to you." He turns around, ready to leave.
"Any questions, Nurse Park?"
"Not yet, Doctor, have a good evening." The nurse replies back, watching as the darkness filled his room as the director slowly closed his room's door.
Stretching, Jimin decided to crash early tonight, as he had a long day ahead of him tomorrow. Digging around his suitcase, he pulled out his nightwear, deciding he'll unpack tomorrow.
Changing silently, he slowly crawled into bed. "Let's hope tomorrow goes well.." He slowly breathes out, letting the soft caress of sleep take him.
