Chapter 8

Trent Kort put his cell down and smiled. He never honestly thought that it would happen in his lifetime. This prophecy had been passed down from generation to generation. It was the reason he joined the CIA. The skills and the contacts would all help if he'd ever been needed. He would head to Hawaii and so how he could help the Sentinels and their guides. A notification from his cell told him that he was about to receive the information about those he was born to protect. Once he knew who it was, he would send out feelers to find out exactly where in Hawaii they were.

He poured himself a drink, grabbed his cell, took a sip and promptly choked as soon as he read the names. Gibbs and DiNozzo, this would be a problem. These two men didn't trust him, the only way it was going to work was, to be honest with them and explain who he was.

'Protector of the Sentinels'

It was something his father had called him, it made the young Trent feel so important. The prophecy was that one day the Sentinels would return in force. It would start small, but as the sentinels and guides began to meet and bond things would change.

Ellison and Sandburg had been the first. They were being watched, safeguarded, but now there were others. It meant that those high up in different governments, agencies, businesses and in the medical field would start to come out and do their duty for this extraordinary people. Just like him they had been born knowing what they had to do and went into areas that would help if the prediction happened.

There were those who also knew but wanted to stop this. They wanted to control or destroy the Sentinels, these people they were freaks, too different to be around 'normal' people. He believed that they could work together and make the world a better place. Many others would still be afraid, so it would be kept a secret until the time was right to announce them to the world. It blew his mind that it was actually happening in his lifetime, all those stories as a kid had arrived.

Catherine stared at her reflection. She'd tried everything to get Steve not only to trust her but to fall in love as well. The trust part had been relatively easy and continued to grow while she helped him and kept his secret. It had never even occurred to him to listen to her heart to see if she'd lied at any point.

It had been a shame that she couldn't persuade him to accept her as his guide. When she turned on him, it would've wrecked him. Freddie had found out she was working against his friend. He had to die; there had been no other choice. Catherine wasn't ready to give up; her job was still to stop the rise of the Sentinels.

"You're mine Steven, Williams will die." He was her SEAL, and no 'Danno' was going to steal him away.

Sacks now knew where his hatred of DiNozzo came from. He must have sensed that the NCIS was a freak, a guide. His family had always been prominent in the fight for humanity, to make sure the world belonged to those pure people without so-called gifts. It was his time to shine. He didn't want to work with these animals, but he would get close to them. Sacks would kill them all, but not everyone agreed with him.

"Pathetic freaks." Sacks suddenly chuckled to himself. "We could always use servants." How important would he be with having a sentinel as a slave? Things were looking up for him.

"So Chief, we're going to Hawaii?"

Sandburg bounced on his feet in excitement. "Oh, we are so going. I can't wait for a huge training session. You can talk to the Sentinels, and I can help the guides. I can't believe were no longer alone."

Ellison smiled at the excitement that rolled of his guide. There was still a concern; it wasn't about himself, but Blair. He would be utterly lost with the younger man, not just because the guide thing, but because how much he loved him.
