"Okay, let's go. If you can't suit up quickly at home base, I'm concerned how you would handle it in the field." Bruce says. I giggle as I spin in the chair, still amazed that I am in THE Bat Cave. Alfred, the butler, walks over to me and Bruce, handing me a cup of hot chocolate.
"Jason is just really excited, Mr. Wayne. I mean, he gets to be the new Robin." I tell him. He smiles over at me.
"He could still be quicker about it. Also, I told you to call me Bruce, Victoria." I smile at him.
"Sorry, still getting used to all of this."
"Perhaps, Jason is primping. As I recall, Master Richard spent nearly half an hour admiring his reflection the first time he donned his cape." Alfred says.
"Who is Master Richard?" I ask.
"You will meet him soon, Ms. Rogers." I smile up at him.
"Jason, get on out here or I'm going on patrol without you." Bruce yells. I giggle again, just as Jason lands beside me on top of the computer, scaring Alfred, making him drop his tray. Jason drops down and looks over Bruce.
"Gotcha." Jason says.
"Would have if I hadn't seen you slip behind the computer banks three minutes ago, or if Victoria would have stopped giggling." Jason looks at me.
"Tori! You gave me away!" I stand right in his face, hands on my hips.
"I couldn't help it! You look funny in your outfit."
"At least I get to go out on patrol, you're stuck here in the cave."
"Just until he realizes that I'm better!"
"Ok, you two, knock it off or neither one of you will go on patrol with me." We both turn and look at Bruce.
"Sorry Bruce." We both say, which makes him smile.
"How does it feel, Jason?" Jason smirks and starts punching and kicking the air.
"It feels awesome! Check me out. I'm Robin, the Boy Wonder. Are you kidding me? This rocks." I smile at Jason, happy for him.
"Victoria, excited to run the computer?" I smile up at Bruce.
"Heck yeah I am! This tech is amazing! I can't wait to get to play with it." He chuckles.
"I'm glad. Tomorrow, I'm going to introduce you to a friend of mine who will help with your tinkering." This puts a bigger smile on my face.
"Can't wait!"
"Come on, old man, we've got bad guys who need chasing." Jason says, as he goes running off to the Bat mobile. He jumps and lands on top of the car. "This is the best day of my life." I giggle and shake my head.
"You better come back safe, or else!" I yell as Bruce puts on his mask and heads toward the car.
"You worry too much, Tori!" They both get in the car and take off. I wave to them as they disappear. I shake my head and sit back at the computer, a big smile on my face.
I still couldn't wrap my brain around the fact that both Jason and I were adopted by a good guy, who happened to be Batman. All this happened, just because we decided to steal the tires off the Batmobile. Yes, you heard right.
Jason and I were both orphans in the worst part of Gotham, both of us growing up there for our whole lives. We became friends instantly, especially since we were the biggest troublemakers at the orphanage.
I am a tinkerer, I love to take things and build something new. The main thing I had built was I took an old game boy and an old cell phone and built a device that could shut down any security system. Jason thought it was so cool that he wanted to see if it worked out.
We snuck out, not for the first time I might add, and decided to find something to try it out on. Our luck, we happened to find the Batmobile down an alleyway. Us being the troublemakers that we are, we decided to try my device on the car. My device actually worked, shutting down the security system for the Batmobile.
We then decided to steal the wheels of the Batmobile, thinking the money we got from it would get us out of the orphanage. We got to work instantly, working as fast as two 10 years old could. We were working on the last tire when we heard someone clear there throat.
When we stood up, we saw Batman himself standing there, staring at us. Jason and I looked at each other, then back toward him. He didn't look angry, more shocked.
He question us, amazed at my device. I thought he would give us a lecture but he didn't, he just walked us back to the orphanage, then left. We kept waiting to get a lecture the next morning but it never came.
Instead, we got called down to the office because someone had decided to adopt us. We were surprised at who wanted to adopt us, Bruce Wayne, the billionaire of Gotham. I was getting a little irked that they kept trying to talk him out of adopting us while he filled out the paperwork.
We quickly grabbed our stuff, which wasn't much for the two of us and then follow Mr. Wayne out of there, glad to be rid of the place. Our eyes were huge when we saw the limo, and the fact that we got to ride in it.
Wayne Manor was huge! Jason and I could each have our own wing and there would still be enough space for every football team on the east coast.
Bruce showed us to our rooms, right across from each other. My room was huge, like the size of an apartment. I even had my own bathroom! Bruce said he would take us out later to have us pick out things for our rooms.
Jason and I spent the next hour exploring the mansion, though I'm pretty sure we still haven't explored all of it. We went shopping, getting all sorts of stuff for our rooms. I noticed Mr. Wayne kept smiling at us, which I wasn't use to. Adults don't usually smile at us, they are usually angry at us.
The next couple weeks, were interesting, to say the least. Bruce started training us in acrobatics, martial arts, critical thinking, things like that. I wasn't sure why we had to, but it was actually kind of fun. Bruce would also give me different objects to tinker with, seeing what I would come up with.
One day, we finally poked at Bruce, wanting to know what was with the training and why he was gone most nights. That was then he showed us the Batcave, telling us he was Batman.
Everything made sense at that moment: Why Bruce adopted us, all the training, why he was gone all night. He told us Jason was going to become the new Robin, while I would become a sidekick too and he had to decide what it would be.
We were both super excited! Which leads us to this moment, Jason going on his first patrol. Since I still didn't have an alter ego, I was going to do things on the computer to help them.
