Aelin Ashryver Galathynius waited impatiently, leaning back in her chair while she tapped her foot on the marble floor.
Picking at her manicured nails, Aelin stood up with a lightness that almost seemed inhumane and strolled around the office examining everything and anything.
The room was spacious and filled with furniture and books. She expected more, but...
She wasn't going to be here for long anyways.
"What are you doing?" Aedion hissed, uncrossing his arms from his broad chest as he stepped away from the closed door.
Her cousin had a hand on her wrist a second before Aelin could drop a jewel in her pocket.
Giving Aedion a sly grin she started opening drawers one by one, "I don't see why we can't clean-up for him, since he obviously hadn't bothered for company."
Aelin blew a strand of her golden hair away from her face and turned to find her cousin giving her a disapproving glare.
Sticking out her tongue mockingly she turned to a drawer.
It was locked.
Too easy.
Grabbing a hair pin from her braided locks, she held it up at Aedion with a grin.
"Care to do the honors."
Aedion puffed out an angry breath and sat down on one of the two chairs opposite the desk.
She shrugged, "Suit yourself."
Crouching down on her knees she fiddled with the lock that felt cold to her touch.
"Miss Galathynius, I'm glad to see you've made yourself at home."
A tall, dark-haired man shut the door behind him. Aedion froze while Aelin merely dusted off her pants and inclined her head in greeting.
Principal Rolfe of the Rifthold Academy was standing by the door wearing a grey suit that was wrinkle-free, and polished black shoes.
He looked at her up and down before grinning.
She was aware at how she must look to him; he was refined in every manner, not a hair out of place, while she was wearing shorts and a V-neck red shirt under a black leather jacket.
Aelin could be the exact polar opposite of Rolfe.
She would've looked more presentable, it was her first day at school after all, but there was one problem.
She didn't particularly care.
"Aedion Ashryver," Her cousin stood up from his chair and shook Rolfe's hand.
Aelin rolled her eyes, and stepped around the piece of furniture so she was beside Aedion.
She hadn't heard him come in, a fools move.
"Please, sit, we have a lot to discuss," The principal explained, but Aelin stopped listening at sit.
She tried to ignore how soft the seats were, and tried to remember the last time she felt as comfortable as she did then.
Both men endured in conversation while she scanned the room, memorizing every little detail.
"...Here's the keys to your lockers and dorm rooms. A schedule. Don't forget your dorm number, and I suggest you head to your first class right around now."
Aedion thanked Rolfe and Aelin made her way to the door.
"Every student here at Rifthold Academy will be pleased to meet you both," He said.
Without so much of a glance in his direction, she called back, "I highly doubt that.
