A/N
Is it weird that Maeve from Sex-Ed seriously reminds me of Maeve from TOG??
Hope you're getting a small hint of the chapter from the title ;)
__Apparently out to town meant a two-hour long ride in a cramped bus with no AC and a bunch of sweaty students.
It was, by far, the worst two hours of Aelins life.
Her mood brightened a bit when she finally crawled out the bus, and basically fell to the floor, sighing thankfully at the fresh air.
She heard someone laugh behind her, and got up to face them.
"Enjoying yourself down there?" Maeve snickered, standing on the side walk with a hand on her hip. All of her glorious perfection somehow seemed twisted and evil all of a sudden.
"You got a problem, Maeve?" Nehemiah fought, and right then Aelin could've hugged the life out of her, or maybe she'd just choke all the air out of Maeve.
Yeah, that sounds like a much better plan.
"Chill, Nehemiah, she was just joking," Rowan said, his eyes telling her to just drop it.
That's when Aelin noticed just how close he was to Maeve, with his shoulder touching hers, like they were almost inseparable.
Maeve and Nehemiah continued to argue back and forth but Aelin was busy staring at Rowan.
He looked the same as always, with his ruffled silver hair and emerald eyes, and a grey v-neck shirt with lose black jeans.
It was just Rowan. But why did Aelin have those urges to just touch him all over and just be near him without it being so weird. Why was it that her stomach fluttered when he passes by?
Maeve turned to her and noticed her looking. Slowly she slid an arm around his waist and pulled him closer roughly making Rowan whip his head to her in surprise.
Laughing at Aelins dumb expression, Maeve smiled innocently, "I didn't mean it. No harsh feelings right?"
And I'm not going to mean it when I rip those fake extensions out of your hair! Aelin thought bitterly.
"Yea, no harsh feelings," Lorcan suddenly answered and grabbed Aelin by the arm right before she was about to pounce on Maeve and gouge her eyes out.
Once they were deep into the market, Aelin ripped her arm away from his grip.
"What was that all about? I thought you didn't like me?" She said harshly, still thinking about what just happened.
How could Rowan just stand by and watch?!
"Oh no, I still dont like you," Lorcan admitted, earning an elbow to the gut from Elide, and he grunted, "Thing is, I despise Maeve."
Aelin snorted and pinched his cheeks, "What does mr. grumpy have against oh so perfect Maeve Regina?"
Lorcan swatted away her hand, and rolled his eyes, "I just don't like her. I've seen what she does to people, how they all follow her like lost dogs, and I've seen her with Rowan. I don't know why he likes her so much, I mean I get that they used to date-"
Aelin took a step back with wide eyes, "They used to... date?"
"You didn't know?" Elide said with an obvious tone, "They were the hottest couple in school."
Nehemiah glared at Elide and muttered, "You're not making this easier for her you know."
Shaking her head, Aelin forced a shrug, "I don't know why you guys think I would care. I mean it's not like I like the guy."
Lorcan rose his eyebrows humming like he didn't believe her and Elide held back a giggle.
"Oh, you guys are so mature," Aelin scoffed, then took a second to finally realize where they were.
The market went down many lanes, and she noticed clothing booths and shops at every corner. It reminded Aelin of a sort of Western road with the wooden aesthetic and rusted signs.
"You guys seen Dorian?" Chaol walked up to them, clutching his duffel bag across his shoulder and smoothening the ruffles on his buttoned up shirt.
"No, sorry Chaol," Lorcan said, looking around a bit to see if he could spot his friend.
"I really hope I don't have to run into that git Regina anytime soon," Aelin murmured with disgust.
"Preach on that," Chaol nodded with a grin.
Aelin smiled at him, just because this was the first time they've actually agreed on something and can actually bond over their hatred over Maeve.
"What are we doing here moaning about, we have a dance to get ready for!" Nehemiah smirked, slinging an arm in Aelins and the other in Elides.
"Yeah! Let's go shopping!" Elide half-screamed half-giggled, piercing their ears painfully.
Aelin heard the lazy grunts of Chaol and Lorcan from behind before she was dragged along to God knows where.
