I stare at the road in front of me looking for a sign that tells my destination then I drive to my right where the 'Olley Old Tree stands. I jump at my seat when the wheels of my car hit the rocky path. The 'Olley Old Tree was and still is the sign my friends and I put up for our summer get away hideout. That tree was the oldest that ever stood on the intersection of borders.

We made it our sign when we found the nice little cabin out in the woods. I look at the path before me as it narrows down to a grassy field. Maneuvering through the safe path towards the woods, I quickly see the cabin in the middle of God knows where. I quickly park my car at a safe distance but before leaving I pick up my phone that started ringing. I look at the caller I.D. and smiled when I saw who it is.

"Hey Felicity, I'm already here. Where are you?" I say hopping out of the car. My head pressed against my shoulder to prevent the phone from slipping as I open the trunk to unpack my bags.

"I'm near, just need to take a corner right" comes the voice from the other side. "Okay Fel, I have to unpack my things now. I'll see you in a few." I said.

I went inside the small cabin that was our campsite. Opening the door to the one floor cabin, the door creaked from its rustiness. I then let out the cloud of dust out to the open air before poking my head inside. Squinting my eyes as to see the furnitures from the dark room, the cabin has one bathroom and a few kitchen supplies only but it was good enough for us to last a couple of days. turning the switch on that was on the side of the door, the lights flicker engulfing the room before steadying itself. In the living room, there is a couch plus an old coffee table in the middle.  Unfortunately, this cabin has no bedroom so either one must sleep on the couch or on the floor with her sleeping bag.

As I was fixing my things, I heard a car engine that stopped near where I parked my own car. Putting aside my stuff, I turned around to see my best friend, Felicity.

As we finish organizing our things, Felicity and I are outside sitting around by the campfire we made, our lunch cooking above the unsteady fire and chatting with each other with useless topics before we were submerse with silence. After some time, Felicity broke the silence. Having remembered something, she accidentally said that made our afternoon depressing.

"This brings me back from our last trip with her." Felicity said with a sad look on her face."I wish she was here." I reply only for Felicity to nod her head in agreement. Night soon fell and the two of us went back inside the cabin and slept soundly at our own makeshift sleeping bags, not one of us wanting to let the other sleep on the floor alone so we left the couch untouched.

-Next Day-

Birds chirping and flying around as they set to the new born sky. I, being the first one to wake up, am now standing outside cooking breakfast as the fire crackling uncontrollably. After a few minutes Felicity finally woke up just at the right time. We sat on the logs we chopped back then and talked about how our lives have been going on. After some time at noon, the sun seemed to be as angry as a bull.

"Hey Fel, I don't feel so good. I feel light headed." I said leaning my back at the door frame of the cabin. "Yeah me too let's go inside." Felicity replied closing the pot with leftover food before blowing out the fire. As we went inside it seemed to be hotter than the one we felt outside. "Open the windows I feel like I'm gonna faint more in here." I say as I open a small window on my right before turning on the fan that Felicity brought.

"Wow, can't you believe it?! Sunny here. Sunny in the radio of summer time. I can't believe the weather forecast finally made a right prediction." A voice screeched that came from the old rusty radio. "All the people here are heading towards the beach. Man have I not seen the beach so packed up before. Well, since the news forecast was right, the once-in-a-century heat wave will finish in three days time. I hope you bought sunblock because this will be the hottest summer you will ever face. This is Sunny from summer time. Hope-" the voice was cut when a hand turned off the radio. "Ugh, why did it have to be this day?!" I say, slumping down on the couch while Felicity just opened the last window before shooing my legs so she can sit on the other end of the sofa. "Well, we just have to suck it up and hope nothing ruins the rest of the week." Felicity said, slumping a little where she sat. "Yeah." was the only reply before both of us listened more to the radio while talking random stuff.

~Next Day~

It was early in the morning but the sun still stood high above the sky, glaring down the people on earth and sending its evil rays to ruin some people's morning. Felicity and I are outside finding it better to stay put in the morning. Luckily, Felicity brought enough sunblock for both of us so that our skins won't crisp up. Lying down on the log, we look up to see the sky and clouds that somehow covered the sun just for the morning. Felicity, looking down at a third log that sat on the ground between hers and mine, can't help but feel sad. "Yo Felicity, forget about it. It's in the past.... Remember the promise we made on to her headstone" I say, as I put my arm over my head to cover my eyes from the raging sun. Felicity just nodded doing the same action as me.

Desperate for more shadow and shade due to the heat wave while eating our lunch under a tall leafy tree, I suddenly screamed at the top of my lungs. "Agh!!! Felicity get that away from me!" I exclaim as I run away while carrying my food from Felicity who is holding a centipede on her hands. Felicity can't help but laugh and chases me with it. However, she stopped when she heard a small ring that came from her phone in the cabin. Tossing the now poor centipede over her shoulder, she jogged back to the cabin and answered her phone. After reaching for the cabin, more ring seems to erupt from the two travel bags at the corner of the room.

Right after picking up her phone, I went inside to go answer my own phone as well seemingly forgetting the little prank that Fel pulled.

"Hello?" Both Fel and I said at the same time. "Fel/Lavender this is your parents. We want you to cut your camping trip." The voices came out from both of their phones. "What! Wh-" "We heard about the heat wave. In fact it even reached us here. So we want you to leave and stay cold until the heat wave finishes. That's final."

"Okay..." Fel replied while I just nodded even though her parents can't see me.

"You too?" Felicity asked closing her phone. "Yeah. I guess we'll come back again next year." Felicity nodded before the two of us slumped back down on the couch letting the raging sun and heat take away our last afternoon for the camping trip.
