EMBER'S POV

***

 I sit in my car in the parking lot of the new location. I put my head against my steering wheel and start to cry. "How am I ever going to be comfortable with my job? I need to go to college. I hate this!" I hiccup from the tears, and I jump when I hear a knock on my window. I turn my head to the side and see Ethan looking at me. I wipe my face and he looks at me concerned. I roll down the window and I fake smile at him. "Hey." He doesn't say anything, but reaches in and presses the unlock button for the doors. He walks over to the passenger's side and gets in. "Let's go." I look at him confused, "What?" He sighed, "You are obviously upset. Let's get out of here." I look at him as if he was talking in another language, "We can't go anywhere. We have work to do." He smiled at me. "Just trust me. I will take care of it. Take me somewhere. Let's get away from this place." I nod and turn on my car.

I start driving when he reaches for the aux cord, "May I?" I look at him and nod, "Go for it." He smiled and hooked his phone up. Soon there was a song playing. "What is this?" He looked at me and held up his finger to his mouth, "Just listen to the lyrics." The deep voice of the man started to fill the car. I started to sway with the melody as I drove. The bass drop shook the car, but I just listened to every note. Before I knew it, the song was over and I missed it. "Can you play that again?" I whisper and he nodded turning it back on.

"In restless dreams I walked alone;

Narrow streets of cobblestone;

Neath the halo of a street lamp;

I turned my collar to the cold and damp;

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light;

That split the night;

And touched the sound of silence;" - Sound of Silence by Disturbed

We listened to it for another 3 times before we made it to the forest's edge. I park and turn off the car. I get out slowly and I hear Ethan following my footsteps. I walk to towards the middle where there is an abandoned cabin. I open the door slowly and turn towards to Ethan. "What you are about to witness is a secret held in my family for generations." He smiled and held up three fingers, "I own you a vow of silence." We walk in and I turn on the light, as it illuminated the living room. I sit on the old torn couch and Ethan walked up after me. "So, what is this place?" His hazel eyes looked over every single square inch of the place. "This is a cabin." I smirked at him and he shook his head. "You knew what I meant. How did you find this place?" I look down and say, "This is the place where my parents met. My dad's family owned this forest, but they had to release it to the city when money became tight. They only allowed them to take the forest if they could keep their cabin, so they compromised. This cabin is the only thing of my family that I have left." He sat down next to me. "This is cool. Can I ask you another question?" I looked up at him and I nodded, "Sure." His hazel eyes became a more light brown as he asked, "Why were you crying?" I sighed and said, "That's easy. I hate my job." His head tilted to the side. "If you hate it so much, why do you stay?" I snap back, "Why do you?!"
