She sat next to her friends and would smile when they looked at her. She was happy they thought. She was obviously smiling. They couldn't see through her mask, they couldn't see the monsters. The tiny monsters in her head that told her how dumb she was. Told her that her friends would leave her if they found out about the sadness. He doesn't love you like he says he does, he feels bad for you. Ha! You think you are pretty? Bullshit. Oh what? Some guy stared at you in the store? Pssh, he was wondering why a freak was walking around without supervision. Her boyfriend leaned over and kissed her cheek, she smiled back gently. He analyzed her face, grabbed her hand and dragged her to the hall. He hugged her tightly.
I know you aren't okay, he told her gently. He rubbed her wrists and kissed her forehead. The monster began to growl and scream in her head. He doesn't love you! He doesn't care! He's just waiting for someone better to come along!
She shook her head and took a step away from him. He took a step towards her and placed his hands on her now tear stained cheeks. I'm here for you he said. The thoughts stopped and she collapsed in his arms sobbing. The monster was gone for now. She wasn't alone, she wasn't alone.
