Chapter 12:
Acquaintance

"How many times will you walk away?"
-Shawn Mendes (Roses)

Today was the day of the test that most kids needed to pass. Nerves of all sorts were flying around as rumour was that the test had failed an entire class years before. Of course the faux blonde didn't care about any stupid rumours that seemed to spew from others students. He was confident he was going to be able to pass such test as if it were a breeze. Science was one of the topics he could talk endlessly about. But as he walked down the halls, hand and hand with Daniel, he couldn't help but feel extremely anxious. He felt as if all eyes were on him, when no one was even glancing his way. He kept looking around, his orbs soon landing on a tall figure that was seen leaning against his locker talking to Jack. It brought a smile to Corbyn's face as he noticed how relaxed Jonah seemed.

And without even noticing, Corbyn dropped Daniel's hand and started walking away. Of course the brunette watched and wondered what his boyfriend was doing; glaring in anger as he seen that Corbyn was slowly approaching Jonah. It's not like he could stop the blonde either. He was allowed to communicate with whomever he pleased.

Jonah himself stopped his sentence mid way when noticing the familiar teen get closer with each step. Jack seen such action and looked to see what was going on, smirking at the scene. He crossed his arms the second Corbyn stood next to him.

"Well, I gotta go find Zach. See you guys later!" Jack nodded as he rushed off in the opposite direction the two stood. Jonah watched him go with a scowl, while Corbyn just stared sweetly at the older before him. And when Jonah finally glanced back at the blonde, he couldn't help but melt under such warm stare.

"What do you want, Besson?" Jonah blurted. Corbyn wasn't phased by his words the tiniest and just smiled bright.

"Today's test day..."

"And?" Jonah wondered as he stood up straight. Corbyn stepped closer and licked his lips.

"Don't tell me you forgot about our little deal already?" The older rolled his eyes at such words, a small chuckle escaping. Corbyn himself was amused.

"What's your game here?"

"No game. Just a reminder."

Jonah circled his last answer for the last question, sighing dramatically the second he placed his pencil down. He looked around the classroom, noticing that most of the students were still focusing on the thin packet before them. And as he looked back down at his own test, Jonah felt confident. He stood from his seat casually, keeping his head down as he walked up towards the teacher's desk. Immediately Mr Clifford looks up from typing on his computer and checks to see who stood before him. He was impressed to see that it was Jonah.

"All finished, Mr Marais?"

"Yeah. I'm not as dumb as you think I am, sir" Jonah replies with no emotion.

"I know. But you're not too social either. Hopefully Corbyn broke through that shell of yours, yeah?" Mr Clifford spoke with a small smile. But the thought of the faux blonde only put Jonah in a worse mood than he already feels naturally.

"We're more acquaintances than anything, sir" Jonah bluntly replies. He stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets, slightly getting uncomfortable from the current conversation.

"Ah, well he's a good kid. He means well. And you're good too, Jonah. You just need an extra push" Jonah nodded at his words before turning around to head back towards his seat. And as he sat there, waiting for the bell to ring, a certain blonde had filled his mind like it has recently been doing. A small smile even lifted on his face as he started to think about their deal.

He was going to pass this test. But he wasn't going to get an 'A'.

"Just you wait, Besson."

This was extremely short, but to be honest I have no idea where I was going with this. Hopefully the next chapter will be better.
