The first thing I see when the door opens just a crack is a pair of bright emerald green eyes. The next thing that happens is the door shoves open, giving me just in time so I can bolt out of the way.
The only person behind the door is a boy, his hair slightly curly, wears a white t-shirt and black shorts. He looks like a person you would see in those children choirs, so that's what my mind instantly calls him. Choir Boy.
Choir Boy frowns as if if wasn't expecting to to actually see a person behind the door. He then croaks out a few words, as I can't speak - I'm occupied with smelling the cool air outside, in the hallway. It seems like a strange thing to do, but seeing as I haven't been outside the room for six years, you get the idea.
"So you're Mai, right?"
That startles me out of my thoughts. My eyes go back to Choir Boy. "How do you know my name? Who are you?" I say. It take a startling amount of willpower to not run right out of the room at the moment, maybe throw a few punches on Choir Boy here and find a way out of the building. My feet start to shuffle towards the door.
I am cut off by his words. "Your name is on the plate outside the room. And by the way, I'm Green." He looks at me, smiling. I don't know what caused me to freeze. So I blurt the first thing on my mind, "Like the colour? Who in the world names their child Green?"
He smiles, shaking his head. "I don't know, I was a genetic experiment, from another building."
The fact that he says this so casually confuses me. I am not a genetic experiment, but a Soul Reader. Soul Readers and other people with special . . . powers were highly valued by the High Royals. If the High Royals discovered you had "powers" they took you somewhere, claiming it wasn't a prison but a "facility" to "develop" and "train our powers even further." But Genetic Experiments were 'people' that the Royals had their geneticists create to try and make people with 'powers' like mine. It hadn't worked yet, as far as I could tell as Green was the first person I was meeting in years.
If you were a Genetic experiment, you usually had a very defining feature that was meant to have been the spot your supposed 'genetically created powers. Looking at Green, I guessed his power had something to do with his eyes, as they were practically glowing green, like a cat's eyes but more . . . forest coloured.
Green smiled, his eyes shining. "Some people would be on the ground, screaming or crying for this chance, Mai. You, you're . . . unlike anything I've ever seen. It's a good thing. You're extraordinary, and I like it."
I look down and smile, hearing the words that haven't been directed at me since the . . . Incident.
I then look into his bright green eyes that fit his name so perfectly. "Sure," I reply cautiously. "Only if you promise that the High Royals won't find me."
He grins, then says "I can't promise that, Mai. But I can show you the rest of them."
"Who?" I ask, a smirk playing at the edge of my lips.
"The rest of the group."
hi, hi, hi! I was looking at my old wattpad projects and i found this unfinished chapter from 2018? Its been a long time since i've touched any of my stories here, sorry about that.
I'd like you all to know that the stories you may have read before I unpublished them on Wattpad are old and unedited. I will not be updating them for at least a few years, as I am currently working on my very first novel. It is going to be the first serious work I will be doing and I will not be posting that on Wattpad. Please do not ask me to update anymore of my stories, as this is one of the stories here that I have placed into my old and archived work.
Basically, I am basically quitting writing on wattpad, and you will probably not see any more of these stories continued. If you'd like to know what I had planned originally for this story, you can ask in the comments (although i mostly have vague concepts of what was supposed to happen? and this book was based off a quick bit of inspiration i had one night when i didn't want to do my homework?
I hope you all are having a great day.
Thanks for everything :)
