Waiting For Superman

"I'm sorry sir, I don't know what your talking about. I do not know what S.H.I.E.L.D. is, nor have I heard of it," I say.

"Kirsten, have you heard of the group called the Avengers?" Phil asked.

"Aren't they the group that saved the earth from a group of aliens?" I asked.

"Yes they are. And S.H.I.E.L.D. is responsible for forming The Avengers. But to really answer things, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a group of agents, that may or may not have special gifts, and we send some agents out to go on missions to stop the bad guys, I guess you could say. We also monitor things that could be a threat to Earth. Like the tesseract, the object that caused the war last year," Phil informed me." And we want you, Kirsten Ouellet to join S.H.I.E.L.D."

My eye's grew huge," Excuse me? There is no way I'm doing that."

"Ms. Ouellet we have been watching you for years. We need you, we need your talent."

I snorted," What talent?"

"Ms. Ouellet I think we should go outside and talk about this."

I looked at the couple I was serving," One second."

Phil nodded and went to go wait at the front door; I quickly grabbed the drinks for the two and hurried to their table.

"I am very sorry for the wait," I say." Something came up and I will not be serving y'all anymore. I have already placed y'all's orders and they should be out soon." I gave a warm smile before walking over to Phil.

Phil opened the door for me and we stepped outside, it was loud out but we could still hear each other as we spoke.

"MS. Ouellet, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been watching you over the past few months. We know all about your gift for reading minds and being able to see the memories of inanimate objects. We need your kind of talent," Phil said.

"I'm sorry Mr. Coulson but I can not do that. I do not like using my power, I hate it, I feel as if I'm invading people's personal life. I can not do the things you described S.H.I.E.L.D. as."

"Ms. Ouellet, that is exactly what we need, is to know every possible thing about a subject or any thing that may threaten Earth. You could be of great use to us."

"These missions, could I get killed or captured?" I ask.

"Yes," Phil said.

"Nope I am definitely not doing it now. Thank you for the offer Mr. Coulson but I must get back to my day now. Have a good afternoon."

I started walking back to the door when Phil spoke.

"I'm afraid you can't do that Ms. Ouellet, Director Fury, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already set up a meeting with you, and he doesn't take no for an answer. So welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D."
