Luke shoved his hands into his pockets as the brisk, cold air blew against his wind-kissed pink cheeks. His lips were beginning to chap, and his eyes stung from the cold. He had nothing on but a light sweater, some black skinny jeans, and black Vans to shield himself from the low temperatures. A light frost covered the windows of an old antique shop, and Luke would've thought it was beautiful, if it weren't seven o'clock in the morning, and he was a tad warmer.
A man ran passed him, accidentally shoving the half frozen boy to the frosted ground. He just kept running, not even apologizing to the shivering blue eyed kid, sitting in a pile of frozen morning dew.
"Oh, don't mind me," Luke mumbled sarcastically to no one, standing up and brushing himself off.
He sighed and looked into the window of the antique shop. His parents had thrown him out at five-forty-eight this morning, forcing Luke to buy a present for his older brother.
Luke would rather spend a Sunday like this cuddled up in his room, watching movies and Connor Franta, eating whatever the hell he wanted, but nooo. He just has to buy a present for his ungrateful, rude, and disrespecting older brother.
He babbled nonsense to himself, kicking up a random pebble from a crack in the sidewalk, and attempting to kick it as far as he could. That resulted in him losing his balance and running into a stop sign.
"Of course!" he yelled, before pulling out his phone and checking to make sure he wasn't bleeding. He looked at his contacts and his thumb ghosted over one of his contacts.
Yeah, he could call Calum so they could hang out, but Luke knew he'd be asleep, probably dreaming about boobs or something.
Mikey was an option, but then Luke remembered he had family to visit a few hours away and wouldn't be back for a while.
Luke sighed as he locked his phone, before pocketing it and running a cold, pale hand through his blonde hair.
Looking around, he saw a small, cute cafe on the edge of the street, just a few minutes walk away from where he stood. He blew air into his cupped hands, before stuffing them in his pockets and walking again.
It took him three minutes and forty-three seconds to get there (he counted in his head) and he slowly opened the door, the bell chiming sweetly over his head.
There were only four people in the shop that Luke could see; a couple, a lonely girl sitting by herself, and the barista at the counter. Luke immediately felt warmth seep through his sweater and he sighed happily.
The barista looked up, looking bored, but his hazel eyes lit up when he saw a customer. Luke walked up to him and looked at the small list of things they had.
"Um I'll just have a small caramel mocha with a blueberry muffin," Luke said shyly, his awkwardness shining through, as if someone had written 'AWKWARD' across his forehead.
The small boy behind the counter smiled, showing deep dimples and perfect, white teeth.
"Will that be all?"
Luke looked at the list once more.
"Yeah. Thank you." The barista told him his total, and that his stuff would be out in about a minute. Luke heard noises behind a closed door and realized that the barista wasn't the only person working here.
Luke handed the pretty, brown haired boy the money and he took it with a smile, before depositing it in the cash register.
"I haven't seen you around here. Are you new?" the hazel eyed boy asked, looking up at the tall blonde boys pink cheeks and chapped lips.
