My window had been locked all night. I could still feel the restless wind outside through the four walls of my big bedroom. The wind stretched and My body let out a groan as my head went under the blanket. It was no use though, the noise just got louder. So I climbed out of bed and rubbed my eyes, making sure to adjust to the darkness, and peeked through the curtains. Then, a slight scratching sound came from outside, my heart pumped as I moved the other curtains farther to the side to reveal, nothing. The wind had just mysteriously stopped. I stayed by my window for a second more. But nothing changed. The leaves on the tree outside the house weren't even moving an inch. Finally, I decided that it was nothing and went to bed, still weary of the scary noise.

-------------------
For 2 months this went on. Every night at the same time. 11:25. Instead of getting up I would just hope it passed quick, but it usually always lasted for about an hour. It was strange because the noise would just immediately stop at the same time. The morning was perturbing through my blinds now, and it was time to move out of my old house and to a new one with my father. Since my mom had apparently disappeared, he took care of me, and when I told him what was happening way to many times, he decided it was finally time to move out.
"Maybe the house is haunted. "
My dad said as he picked up the boxes an loaded them in the U-haul. I just shrugged. I never spoke anymore and my dad thought it was his fault when really it never was. It was just that whenever I talked it seemed to start problems, so I basically kept my mouth shut.
"New School New start, aren't you excited that you can finally get out of the house and go to a public school?"
I shook my head, I'd never been to a real school before and to be honest It was a really scary experience. I wasn't quite used to interacting with kids my age, unless it was my cousin Grant.
"Leyota, grab the rest of the boxes and lets go. "
Running up to my room I grabbed the last box from the wooden floor. I looked at the window, remembering the noises that terrified me for the past few months. With that I shook my head and walked out the door, climbing into the old Honda civic.
"Ready?"
I nodded and he started the car, taking off towards Santa Monica. I had lived in Malibu my whole life and went so many places. We passed the old ice cream shop, that was now closed because the old man that had it passed away. Next to it was the bakery, and as always there was donuts, cupcakes, and all sorts of deserts in the window. My favorite was their blueberry muffins, but I guess I'd just have to get some from Walmart in Santa Monica. Being 16, I was supposed to be doing what normal teenagers do, but since Being mute held me back, I couldn't. Party's aren't really entertaining to me and underage drinking is illegal so I avoided it. Soon a unfamiliar sign that said, leaving Malibu, come back soon appeared. I smiled, knowing that I wouldn't have to come back and hear the strange creepy noise again.

-----------------
3 hours had passed, I was sitting in a friendlys with my father who insisted to pick whatever I wanted. He never quite understood that I was mute so he'd always try to get me to talk. Id shake my head no and go back to my own business. The waitress came with my cheeseburger and I chowed down, something about moving to Santa Monica felt right. Maybe finally I could make some friends for once, it would be pretty hard though. After an hour we finished eating and were back on the road again.

Finally, a sign that read Santa Monica appeared. Excitement went through my body as we passed it and I saw the beach. It spread out for miles and miles and it reminded you of really how tiny you are. We drove past so many places until we came to a big brick house that only looked a couple years old. It was in a huge residential area, so I saw kids walking around. My dad parked the car and the U-haul came in behind us.
"Go look at the new house. Pick the room you want while your at it. "
I nodded and slightly smiled, getting out if the car and running up to the new front porch. This was it, finally a new home...
