Ever since she woke up Nel had been keeping herself busy in every way possible. In all the wrong ways. But at least she was busy and Alina was being kept at bay. She was torn: part of her craved talking to the younger girl while the other was actively screaming at her telling her that there's absolutely no way she could just out herself to the princess. Because there was no reason for her to do so, right?

Except there was. The reason was obvious and it stung her like hell every god damn time her eyes met the other's.

Every time Alina approached her she'd slyly sneak away saying she had some serious businesses with someone, urgent business. Even though she emphasised as much as she could on the 'urgent' bit, she knew there was not much business she could possibly attend to on a beach, with mermaids, which also happen to be very naked each time they get out of water, not to mention flirting with her every moment they got the chance to.

Urgent business, my arse.

Nel bit her lower lip, kicking aimlessly at the sand. Her dreams had been hazy the past days. Jorge and the others told her she had been out cold for days on end, feverish and delirious. To her surprise, Jorge didn't try to omit the fact that Alina was the one constantly by her side, but she already knew it. She could feel it even now if she squeezed her hand, she'd still feel the warmth of Alina's tangled to hers, along with all the Magica she had been sucking from the girl. By then there was no way she hadn't noticed.

She squatted down, her elbows resting on her thighs as she held her head in her hands. She ran her fingers through her hair, "I'm so fucked," whispered then.

"Oh that would be a sight to behold," chuckled someone behind her "If only it was true".

Nel peeked over her shoulder and cracked a smile. A slightly more clothed than usual mermaid stood behind her, her smile genuine on her lips, tenderness spilling from her eyes. Her red hair cascading onto her shoulders in an incredibly messy pattern, dripping water all along her shoulder and torso.

Her brown eyes bore into Nel's, and the woman couldn't keep herself from breaking the contact "That's very unlike you," she said tenderly, stepping closer to Nel and eventually sitting down next to her, on her knees "You're shying away. You've got that shitty expression you usually have when you believe you've done something stupid," continued then, pointing to Nel's face insistently.

"Well, thanks for that," hissed her, glaring at her so hard she hoped she'd get the message 'Not in the mood'.

She didn't, by the way.

A wave slightly bigger than the others crashed against the rocks and the redhead sighed "Suit yourself, for now. Have you seen Leah anywhere?" asked then stretching her neck, looking around.

"You just got back?" asked Nel right after, tilting her head. The mermaid met her eyes and held her gaze. She looked almost apologetic.

She shook her head "I wasn't able to get a hold of Arlo, if that's what you wanted to know," the mermaid put her hand on the sand, thoughtful, and just like that sea water started crawling its way to it, surrounding it, dancing around its form "He will come around Nel, he just needs time, but he won't leave you all alone".

"Are you trying to convince me or yourself, Adella?" the other stayed silent, causing Nel to grimace, 'Never bite off more than you can chew'.

Silence reigned between them for a while, until Adella stood up, swatting the sand away from her legs and stretching "I don't know what your problem is Nelpharia, but get it sorted before Leah makes it a world's top priority" and at that Nel couldn't help but smirk to herself, fully knowing that she had done that already, and while she appreciated her friends' concern, she had stepped too far.
