For a while scientists would classify fungi under the Plant Kingdom. Fungi is now classified in the Fungi Kingdom. Examples of fungi would be mushrooms, toadstools, yeasts, and grooms mold. Some fungi are parasites, such as mold. Eighty percent of the plant diseases come from fungi. Other than the parasite fungi, we rely on the good and normally edible fungi. Bakers rely on yeast to bake bread. Yeast is a fungi that is edible. Some fungi are perilous and toxic, such as the Destroying Angel. The Destroying Angel is a mushroom that is toxic to the liver if ever consumed. Unlike plants, fungi does not need chlorophyll to make food. Fungi uses different chemicals to rot other live bodies of plants. The fungi absorbs the food as the rotting bodies decay. Fungi is an interesting and very unusual organism and as you can see, fungus is among us.
