It has been a little more than 10 years since my older brother, Harry, and I were put on the Dursley's doorstep, and almost 11 years since my brother has actually appreciated me.You see, unlike most twins, my brother, Harry, hates me with a passion.
It happened when we were about five and he heard from our Aunt and Uncle that our parents died in a car crash, so he blamed it on me, saying that if I hadn't been born, they wouldn't have died and he would be living with them because they would be alive.
Anyway, right now, I am in my attic room, watering my plants. Well, technically, they are Aunt Petunia's plants, but I just keep them up here until they are fully grown, then she takes them and leaves me more because her plants always seem to die within a month.
I have a mini rose bush, and many daffodils.
I look out my window to see Harry outside cleaning the bird bath in the garden, then I see him start mowing the yard.
What I would give to go outside of my room.
Aunt Petunia comes in.
"Have you watered them?" She asks.
I nod and she hands me more seeds and pots, taking the other ones with her.
"It is Dudley's birthday, so while we are all at the zoo, you will stay here and clean the first floor, besides your brother's room, spotless." Uncle Vernon says after walking into my spotless bedroom.
I nod, excited. My first time outside of my bedroom.
"I'll have Petunia come up here to let you know when we are leaving." Uncle Vernon informs me.
I nod and start filling my bucket with cleaning products, washrags, and various other things that help me clean.
Aunt Petunia yells up my stairs to let me know when they are leaving, and the moment I hear their car leave the drive is the moment I hurry down the stairs to start cleaning, squealing every few moments when I find something new.
By the time I am done cleaning the first floor completely, they are arriving home.
I hurry picking my bucket up and climbing up the stairs to my bedroom.
I close my bedroom door just as the front for opens, and I sigh in relief, putting the cleaning supplies back in their proper spot on the shelves.
Then I lay in my bed for days, only getting up to eat, to to the bathroom, and water the seeds I planted in their pots.
Hearing everything that is going on below, the arguments about the letters Harry keeps getting.
Then Uncle Vernon comes up the stairs and informs me that I need to pack a small bag because we are leaving in 5 minutes.
I pack a small bag, consisting of the sparkly purple pen I have, the faded purple journal that was left with Harry and I when we were left on the doorstep, and my clothes, all of them, since they don't take up too much space, and my small blanket and pillow.
I hurry downstairs and luckily, Dudley sits in the middle.
I offer him some candy I grabbed as I walked out the door and he smiles, taking it and eating it quietly.
Then Uncle Vernon starts driving and doesn't stop, turning repeatedly and eventually getting out to only come back hours later with a long package that he shoves into my lap, going down a long path that lead us to a beach where a man waited with a boat.
Uncle Vernon ushers is all in and then the man takes us to a large rock island which has a singular house on it.
Uncle Vernon pays the man and leads us all in.
The minute we are in, he locks the door and tells us that Dudley gets the couch. I nod and find a space between the stairs and the wall to sleep. Harry chooses a place near Dudley.
I get out my small pillow and blankets, getting comfortable before I lay down and go to sleep, only waking up to see a giant man standing in the livingroom talking to Harry.
The man looks at me.
"Hullo, Rosie. Professor McGonagall will be here soon to get you." He says.
I nod confused.
Then Harry leaves with the man.
I go back to sleep and wake up to someone gently shaking my shoulder. It is a woman in dark green with cat-like glasses.
"You are Rose Potter, correct?" She asks softly. I nod, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.
"Come with me. We must be going." She says. I get up and it my blankets and my pillow into my bag, following her outside.
Then she takes my hand and we appear outside a bar, which I've only heard of in books.
She leads me inside and talks to a man for a minute. Then she leads me up a set of stairs down a long hall to a room.
"You can stay here for the night, and in the morning, go downstairs and have breakfast. I will be back at ten sharp, so be dressed and ready to leave." She says. I nod and she leaves, disappearing like magic.
Then I go to bed, sleeping on the most comfortable thing I have ever layed on in my entire life.
