“Troy. Ice Powers. Hero work?”
Those words have been haunting my mind for the past couple hours. Don’t get me wrong, I’m stoked that he’s got powers. It’s just... how did he even get them? I mean he was sick a couple days ago and BAM! he has powers...
“Mason? Are you even listening to me?” Right Kristen, “Sorry babe my mind has been kinda boggled up for a while...” she looks at me showing her sweet smile as always “I understand, it’s the whole Troy thing right?” I look at her shocked. How the hell does she know already. Did he tell her too? Idiot needs to be more careful about who he goes on telling people... “W-what?”. “It’s only natural to feel that way, after all he did just get cured from that new disease. I was like that too, with Jen at least. She made me promise not to tell but seeing you like this..” “she was sick?”, she sighs “Yeah she had the Beta Virus thing but some doctors came in and helped her out” I look at her confused.
“When was this?”
“Last month, remember she didn’t come to school for two weeks. Almost missed track try outs”
“Oh right. But I thought it was cause she just had a fever”
“Yeah but she just said that so Troy wouldn’t get worried”
“I forgot they both have a thing for each other”
We both started laughing
“I wonder when they are gonna say anything to each other”
“Beats me, but as Troy’s best friend I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna do anything. Anyway I have to go check up on my sister.”
She looks at me and holds my hand tight. “How is she?”
“They say she’s getting worse” my voice goes soft for a moment.
“I’m sure she’ll be ok” she kisses my cheek before letting go of my hand.
“Yeah hope so..” I give her one last kiss before I grab my keys and leave.
I left for my local hospital to check up on Karen, my sister, she also has the Beta Virus. So I’m just hoping she’ll get better.
I went inside the hospital searching for my sisters room.
“307... There it is”
I went in and saw my parents next my sister. “You’ll be ok” they said. “We’ll look for a cure” my dad says softly holding on to my mother. I walked in smiling, happy to tell them that my sister can be saved. “I have good news! There is a cure, it helped Troy and Jen it can help her too!” My parents looked at me eyes widened, they almost couldn't believe it. They quickly got up and went outside to talk to the doctors
“Hey sis. How you doing?”
I ask her, but I don’t get a response. She looks pale, almost bony... It looks as if that virus isn’t letting get the right nutrients. Her dark brown hair almost looks muddy, it's probably just the meds. I hold her hand and stare at her in the bed and I just can't help but tear up a little bit. “if Troy could survive this I know you will be able to as well.” and I swear I felt her hand squeeze mine and I could almost see a smile, I haven't seen her smile ever since the day she fainted.
I could hear my mom and dad begging the doctor to give her the meds. Until he finally gives in.“It’s gonna take some time but we can't promise anything. She's too sick for the cure to do much. But I have to tell you, this is still in testing phase. So her body probably won't react the same way the others did.” “We don't care! We just want our daughter to get better...” My mom says in a loud tone and my dad trying to calm her down hugs her and she starts crying.
“Mom, dad, how about we head home. Alright? You guys still have jobs to do, we'll come back to check up on her tomorrow, alright?”
he softly nods and walks away, “I'm sorry about all that, Doctor Suarez” she smiles, “don't excuse yourself, they have all the right to feel the way they do. But I promise we will do all we can.” “Thanks doc really appreciate it.” with that said I walk out and head home knowing my sister is in good hands.

So I just wanted to give Mason here a little bit of character development. Ik it was longer than usual but bear with me. Also Jen also had it?! hmm wonder what this means for the rest of the cast ;).
