It's Friday afternoon, almost time for the football game. Michael came over right when we got home from school. He told James that I'll be going with him instead. James agreed because he forgot to ask where I live.
Michael looked happy when he told me that James didn't know where I lived.
"Nice room." He compliments as he sits on my bed. "Thanks," I tell him. I forgot that he still hasn't been in my room.
His eyes land on my record player. He gets up and looks at my shelf full of records. He pulls out a Beatles one and sets it on the platter.
It plays Ain't She Sweet. Michael grabs my hand and dances around.
"Oh ain't she sweet, well see her walking down that street. Yes I ask you very confidentially, Ain't she sweet?"
Michael spins me around.
"Oh ain't she nice, well look her over once or twice. Yes I ask you very confidentially, Ain't she nice?" He sings along. We continue to jump around.
"Just cast an eye in her direction. Oh me oh my, Ain't that perfection?" The song continues on for another minute and a half.
"Oh ain't she sweet, well see her walking down that street. Well I ask you very confidentially, Ain't she sweet? Well I ask you very confidentially, Ain't she sweet?" The song finishes off and Michael spins us again. This time I trip over his foot. I take him down with me as I fall.
The room goes quiet. I close my eyes, my heart beating one thousand times per second. This is the day I die and get crushed.
He ends up half on me.
I hear Michael laugh. I groan, rubbing my head.
I open my eyes and look at him.
"What? Did you think I was going to suffocate you?" Michael smiles. The front door slams shut. Michael jumps at the sound and bumps his head on my bed. Alex and Lexi can be heard talking loudly in the kitchen with my mom.I start laughing at him. He laughs with me while rubbing his head.
The record reaches the end. He clears his throat, "We should leave in about twenty-five minutes." I nod.
He rolls onto the floor next to me. We put on our shoes, in silence. I glance at him.
"We need to leave." I sit up. I stand and grab Michael's hand to pull him up. He keeps ahold of my hand while we walk down the stairs.
He opens the door and we step out.
We head to the car. Michael opens the door for me, like usual. "Thank you, Curly." He smiles and shuts it.
At the football game
We walk to the entrance. Michael looks around for somewhere to sit while I follow him looking at the people and the field. I see James waving at us from the top of the bleachers.
I grab Michael's hand, "Let's go sit up there with James." I point to them with my free hand. Michael looks hesitant at first. He sighs, "Alright."
We reach them in no time. Michael and the guys greet each other. They stop talking and James puts his arm around my shoulders. "Guys, this is Jadelyn." He introduces me to them. I smile and greet them.
They say "hi" and go down the line with their names. The curly blonde is Ashton, the short black hair is Ryder, the dirty blonde haired boy is Trevor, and the long brown haired dude is Drew. They are all muscular and tall, besides Drew, he was scrawny and almost sickly looking.
I scoot closer to Michael to get James arm off me. James gets the hint and puts his arm down. We all sit down.
I lean towards Michael, "What even happens at a game?" I watch as the football team runs onto the field, the crowd going wild. The cheerleaders run behind them, jumping around and flipping.
