Jake's POV
"The stars look beautiful tonight..." She murmured to me. "Sure.... But you look extravagant, especially in this moonlight," I flirt. She shifts her glance over to the side, showing a shy smile, then looking back at me. God, her eyes are so beautiful, so innocent....
If someone were to tell me how important a simple flower was a few months ago, i would have never believed them. But after past experience, I know now. As if something.... Or someone... would be as delicate like a flower. But then i met her...
It was a Tuesday afternoon..... Lunch time, 2 hours before school ends. I was sitting at the table with my two best friends, Jacob and Sebastian, and my cousin, Oliver. I was scrolling through Instagram on my phone, when Jacob suddenly taps on my shoulder to get my attention. "Yo, Jake." he beckoned for my attention. I look up from my phone, "hm? What is it?" "We're playing smash or pass." "Yeah, and it's your turn. So, Jamie: smash or pass?" Oliver inquired. "Uhhhhh, pass? I mean, i wouldn't really wanna smash," "Yeah, i agree, she really doesn't seem the person that anyone would want to get with.... Especially with that flower of hers..." Jacob stated. We all glance over at the lone table and there sat..... her. Jamie J Jackson, pretty much the shyest girl in the whole school. She talks to nobody, and no one talks to her. To be honest, i kinda feel bad. And... that flower... ever since she transferred to Enderia High last year, she had been carrying this small, potted flower everywhere..... And i mean e v e r y w h e r e. She goes nowhere without it, and nobody bothers to ask her. "Well, you never know, she could be an interesting person, well, if somebody tried to talk to her..." Sebastian implies, tossing a fry into his mouth. Well, he's not wrong.... But no one even bothers to sit near her.... Though, she looks really cute. Luscious violet hair, the cutest pastel clothing.... And her eyes.... So pure........ What the hell am i even saying...? I would be caught dead if i was found even being close to her.....
2:30. After school. Sebastian and Oliver head to the buses to get home, and Jacob and I talk for a while outside on the main center of the school campus. "So, when are you available at home for me to stop by and drop off your sketchbook?" I ask him. Jacob scrolls through his phone searching for a MCR song to listen to, and answers me, not looking up from his phone, "uh, not today. Possibly tomorrow, i just have to make sure." "Ok, sounds good. You can go one and leave, I just need to go get something real quick." "sure, i'll see you, tomorrow, Jake, bye," Jacob walks away towards the gate exit and to his motorcycle. I wave goodbye and head back to one of the main buildings to get back my headphones.
I exit the building, headphones in hand, and then head to the exit. The sakura petals from the trees fall gracefully to the ground, adding an aesthetic atmosphere to the boring-ass school scenery. As I walk back, i hear footsteps behind me. They sound a little distant, but i know that they're directly behind me. I stop in my tracks and turn around to see.... Her. Jamie. She stumbles back, eyes widen, face tinted red.... And the small potted flower in both of her hands. Jamie ducks her head into her scarf around her neck, trying to hide the blush of embarrassment. "Hey... um.... Jamie, right? Can i help you?" I ask her. She doesn't respond, instead, she guides her eyes to her feet. "Um... ok...." as i'm about to turn towards the exit, she walks towards me, until she's face to face with me. She still hides her face in the scarf, but she holds out the potted flower. "Huh?" I'm puzzled, but I get a feeling that she wants me to take it. I take the flower from her. ".............I... I want you to have it..." She murmurs, but i still manage to hear that she says. I take a look at the flower. This is my first time actually taking a closer look at the flower... and i recognize what type it is. It's a Lavender DragonLily, extremely rare. It's pastel purple base and it's fire-like tips are what make it unique. They say that once it has a proper home, it can live on forever. I just don't understand why she would give it to me. "Ok, but-" I look up from the flower to see that Jamie's nowhere to be found, just.... Gone. I was utterly confused. I take another look at the flower, and then find a note at the bottom of the pot. I take it off and read it. On the note is a phone number, an address, and some words:"Hi Jake
I know we don't talk to each other, at all, but i want you to have this flower. My mother wanted me to give away the flower, so i decided to give it to you, because you seem like the type of person that can take care of something like this. On this note are my address and phone number, so you can contact me about more information on the flower..... Just please, take care of it. It would mean a lot to me
Jamie"
I still didn't understand, but i didn't complain. I decided to take the flower, and headed home.
