The truth?

A/N I know what you all are going to say, "Why did it take so long for you to update this book?" Well, the answer to that question is very simple. I had a complete writer's block and I just couldn't come up with any ideas on how to continue this. But thanks to a song I found, I got Ideas on what's going to happen. So I will hopefully upload more to this book in the near future.

Kai's POV

It has been 1 week since Shadow came to me the first time. Now I get nightmares every night. And when I'm alone, he comes. He comes to me and tells me the same things every time. That my friends hate me and want me to leave. Somewhere in the back of my head, I feel like it's lies but...If that's the case then why does it feel like the truth? Everyone else has been acting strange and asks me weird questions, like "Are you afraid of shadows?" Why would I be scared of shadows, I annoyed by Shadow but not scared of shadows.

Once again I was standing on the upper deck at night, alone. I suddenly felt a dark presence behind me. I chuckled, "So you're back. Heh! Figures." I heard a chuckle behind me and knew I was right, "I thought I could scare you a little, but I guess that didn't work." "Well sorry for ruining the fun for you, Shadow." I turned around and came face to face with the black-eyed man. "What do you want, Shadow?" "What? Can't I visit my favorite ninja without a reason." I looked at him with a "I don't believe you" look. "Okay, fine. I'm here to talk." He said and held up his hands in defense. "Are you here to say the same things again or do you finally have something else to say?" I asked him with a hint of annoyance in my tone. "Aww! Are you already tired of me? How sad." I immediately caught the sarcasm in his voice. "I know you're being sarcastic. So can you please answer my question." "Hmpf! Fine, yes I'm here to tell you what I have told you before, but it's the truth and you need to believe it." I turned my back to him and walked to the railing. I put my hands on the railing and clenched my fists tight, "It's not the truth. It's just lies you've been telling me for the past days." I felt him put his hand on my shoulder and Shadow stood to my right, "I'm sorry Kai, but it's not. And you know deep inside that it is the truth." I looked away from him, "....I...." I wanted to believe that it was a lie, but something inside me said that he was telling the truth. "Do you really think I would lie to you, Kai? I'm your friend." I turned my head to him shocked, "You're my friend?" "Yes I am, and I would never lie to you." I turned to the city and thought for a second and then sighed, "do they really hate me?" Shadow gave me a sad look and nodded. I felt my eyes tearing up, "Even Nya?" "Even her. I'm sorry Kai." I closed my eyes tightly and pushed back the tears. I then opened them and turned to Shadow, "No don't be. I was a fool to think that they ever loved me. You helped me realize that." He gave me a smile, "Good. I have to leave now but I'll be back tomorrow and then I can help you get revenge on the ninjas." I don't know why but the words sounded so good in my ears. Revenge on the ninjas. "Okay see you tomorrow then."

Next evening

Lloyd's POV

I was in the living room staring out the window. Or more exactly I was staring at Kai. He was standing by the railing and was looking at the city. It was almost as if he was waiting for someone. "What are you staring at Lloyd?" I turned my head and saw Zane looking at me. "Kai, he's been standing by the railing for two hours, and it's almost as if he's waiting for someone." "Hmm, well that's odd. Why don't you ask him if he is waiting for someone." I looked back at Kai and sighed, "Maybe I should."

I walked over to Kai who didn't even notice me. "Kai?" He jumped and turned his head to me and I saw something in his eyes. Anger and fear. Kai has been showing fear in his eyes for the past week, but what is he so afraid of, or who. "L..Lloyd." His voice was cracking, I don't know if it was because of fear or anger, or maybe both. "I was just wondering what you're doing out here." He backed away a few steps, "I....I...I was just thinking." "Why are you stammering?" "I...I wasn't." "Yes, you are. Are you hiding something from me?" Kai didn't answer, he continued backing away from me and I started walking closer to him. The sun had started setting and Kai seemed a little relieved when he saw that. "Finally." I stopped, "What?" Kai stopped and a smirk crept up onto his face. I have never seen Kai make a smirk like that, it wasn't a normal smirk, it was an evil smirk and for some reason, it sent chills down my spine. "Guys!" I shouted for the others. Something is wrong with Kai and I'm going to find out what it is. The others came running and stopped next to me. "Lloyd, what is it?" Cole asked me. "Something is wrong with Kai." All the others turned to Kai and when they saw the smirk on his face they all turned worried. "Kai?" Nya's voice sounded scared. She was scared of her brother and that concerned me even more. Kai started laughing evilly and I saw a shadow move behind him. "Kai behind you!" Kai stopped laughing and gazed to his side. "What took you so long?" A man came up from behind Kai and he was wearing the same evil smirk Kai was. They looked very much alike. "I'm sorry Kai. But I had some business to take care of first." "Hmph, fine. Can we leave now?" Kai didn't look away from us. The man chuckled, "Don't you want to leave a little gift for them first." The man walked p to Kai and put a hand on his shoulder, Kai turned his head to him. "No, I think I want to wait with that. So shall we take our leave, Shadow?" And just like that everything fell to place. The words, Shadow had not meant a shadow, it meant the person Shadow. Shadow turned to me and his smirk grew wider, and then both he and Kai disappeared in a cloud of smoke. "What just happened?" Jay asked just as confused as I was. "I..I don't know." I stared at the spot where Kai had been standing, "What's going on with you Kai?"
