Bakugo

Bakugo opened his bedroom door slowly when he heard the loud clattering and crashing coming from downstairs. His father had to stay overnight at work so it was just him and his mother at home. The loud noise had startled him from the homework he had been finishing for the next day at school, had his mum hurt himself while making something?

Making his way downstairs, Bakugo peeked around the doorframe and into the kitchen. The entire time he prayed she hadn't dropped something, broken something or hurt herself. What he ended up finding was far worse.

His mother was slumped on the floor on her knees, staring idly at the broken bottle in front of her. The stench of alcohol burnt Bakugo's nose as he slowly made his way closer to her. He was relieved when he saw nothing on the floor besides the broken bottle and its contents, thank god she wasn't hurt.

"Mum?" he asked timidly. Mitsuki flinched at the voice and slowly turned to look at him. Her pupils were blown wide and she had trouble focusing on his face.

"Oh, Katsuki darling." She smiled at him, but it didn't feel right. Mitsuki felt off, something was wrong. Almost as if confirming this he heard her mutter under her breath. "since when did you have a twin brother...?"

As he opened his mouth to respond a shard of glass flew past his face, smashing against the wall behind him, sending small shards of clear glass in all directions. The sudden noise with the action startled Bakugo, and he trembled slightly as he watched his mother shakily stand up, more glass in hand.

"that's your fucking problem!" she screamed at the terrified boy. Poor Bakugo had never seen his mother like this, was it something he had done? She continued her tirade.

"you're such a wimp, and you're useless. You can't do anything right. You never help and you haven't gotten your quirk yet. I had mine by the time I was 3! I swear if your quirk is something useless, or god forbid, you're quirkless, you'll be out of this house faster than you can blink."

Bakugo stood there trembling. Mitsuki had never yelled at him this much, or said such hurtful thing before. With every new word she said she was slowly getting closer and closer till she stood just in front of him, glaring down at him with those red eyes that had once held love. Now there was only rage.

His legs gave way beneath him and he fell to his knees, not bearing to look at her he looked at the ground. Tears stung his eyes as he waited for her to say something else. But she was silent.

A second later something heavy hit him in the stomach, he coughed loudly as he fell back against the wall behind him. He clutched his stomach and curled into a ball, wheezing and coughing from the pain. Strangely enough it didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. No, it's not that it didn't hurt, it just stopped hurting after a bit and felt... nice?

Looking up at where his mum stood, she had a foot extended in his direction. She had kicked him! Her face turned into a snarl when she saw him not crying or whimpering in pain or whatever she had been aiming for.

"What's wrong Katsuki? It doesn't hurt does it?" She cooed mockingly. Bakugo shivered at how devoid emotion it sounded. The tears that had been threatening to spill this entire time came flooding out, running down his cheeks before falling to the floor. Mitsuki knelt in front of him, gently running a hand across his cheek.

"don't cry Katsuki." she whispered, once more no emotion behind it. Attempting to pull away Bakugo shrunk back into the wall, becoming fully pressed against it. Mistuki's hand grabbed his face firmly, yanking his head back.

"Don't run from me Katsuki, I am your mother." He whimpered as her nails dug into his cheeks. Once more the feeling of pain burst from a sharp pain to a dull, almost enjoyable throb. She grimaced as she looked over him, her expression almost unreadable.

"This is why no one will ever love you." Her voice dripped pure venom as she spat these words at him. More tears started to flow when she said this, hitting young Katsuki deep in his heart. While the tears clouded his vision Mitsuki's other hand raised up high, the thick glass sharp aimed at him. The shard seemed to come down at him in slow motion before a second of pain, then, darkness.

Bakugo sat up from his bed, sweat glistened his forehead as he struggles to even his breathing. Running a hand through his hair he willed himself to stop, telling himself it had been years since that day. It may have been years but that day scarred him, made him hate women with all his heart. He couldn't trust them, let alone get near them. Now that he was older he thought back about that night, how he could have changed it.

If he had stayed in his room, if he had run away when he had seen her on the floor, If he had called his father or the police. No one would believe him though, she was a caring and kind person when she hadn't had a drink. It was like a switch, once off you couldn't tell it was ever on.

A knock at his door startled him out of his thought process. Glancing around his eyes landed on the clock on his desk. 3am.

"What's wrong Katsuki? Are you ok?" Mitsuki's kind and worried voice filled his room, sending a shiver down his spine as he remembered them as the same words she had said to him that night. It took him a second to find his voice but he replied.

"It's nothing old hag." He half spoke half whispered, for sake of his sleeping father. He sat there till he heard her footsteps go back to her bedroom and the door clicked shut. With his heart rate slowly calming down he lay ack down on his bed, staring absent mindedly back up at his ceiling. His hand traced the small scar above his left eye, usually hidden beneath his hair. A lovely gift that meant he could never forget that night, and all the ones to follow.

Taking a ragged breath, he closed his eyes and curled up into his blankets, only to fall back into that nightmare once again.
