They'd done it again. They had taken my stuff and ran away again, calling me names. Really helps someone's self-esteem.

At least they didn't get my notebook. Honestly, I've thought about committing suicide before, but then I think of Gobber and can't bring myself to abandon him in the forge.

But now I'm not so sure. Looking around my room, empty of half my belongings, stolen from the other teenagers. I sigh. At least my dad won't be home tonight.

I head to the Great Hall and get some food before going to sit on a table. When I was about to sit down the other people quickly moved up so there was no longer space. I just turn around and look around for another place to sit. Great. There weren't any empty places so I had to sit outside. Again.

I trudged to the big doors and open them just enough for me to slip through because if Gobber saw me, he would force me to sit with him and his friends, who weren't too fond of me.

I sat down on the stone steps of the great hall, feeling the icy air slowly creeping up my spine making me shiver.

I eat quickly before sneaking into the huge hall, depositing my plate and walking home for the night.

Just before I entered me and my father's house, I hear a noise from inside I creep to our small window and see my father sitting on his chair, eating way too much food a person should be able to handle. I sigh. Why did he have to be back TODAY? I mean I guess I should've known that he would be here because there were way more people in the Great Hall than yesterday.

I slowly opened the front door, turning quickly to the left and half climbing, half running up the stairs, when I heard a,

"Hiccup!"

"Yes, dad..."

"So, I and Gobber have decided that... you get to start dragon training with the others. Tomorrow morning, 6:00 sharp."

A warning alarm goes off in my brain. The gangs in dragon training. If I do dragon training the I have to do it with them. And that can't happen.

"Do I have to?"

"Whaddaya mean? You're a Viking!"

"I know but I don't want to fight dragons."

"But you will."

"No, I'm pretty sure I won't."

"Fine. But tomorrow is last day without it."

"Fine. Night dad."

Before he can reply I scramble up the remaining steps, slam my door behind me and collapse on my bed. One more day. One more day of freedom is the last thing that goes through my mind before I fall into a dreamless sleep...

I wake up to screaming and chaos. I jump up, basically fall down the stairs, and race out the door.

It's another dragon raid. Gobber will need help with all those normal people around the forge needing new weapons or their own fixing.

I run down the hill from our house, to find my father fighting a nadder. I run past and make it to the forge.

"Ah, Hiccup! Nice'o'ya to join the party!" Says gobber over the excruciating noise of the sword he's hammering into place. It doesn't bother me after all these years anyway.

After a couple of hours, Gobber turns to me.

"They need me out there..."

He starts as I nod.

"Stay put. Here. Ya know what I mean. RHAAAAAAGHH!!"

He said before doing a warcry, and running amid the chaos.

I look at my new invention. A combination of cogs made it throw a bola at where ever it aimed. If I shot down a dragon my life would become infinitely better. I could at least try.

I sprint out of the now empty shop, steering my machine with my arms, I arrive at the edge of a cliff.

I hear someone shouting.

"NIGHT FURY! GET DOWN!!"

Suddenly a dragon as black as the night sky flew into the tower hitting it before they crashed and going straight through the gap. The watchtower came crashing down as I pulled the trigger and then I heard a panicked, fading screaching, and I saw something black fall into the forest. I shot down a night fury.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Dad I really did shoot it down."

"Son stop. You didn't. Stop lying and go home."

I walk through my front door... Aaaaannnd straight out the back. I am finding this dragon.

After an hour or two, it was nearly 8:00.

I suddenly found a spot where there was a huge long crater going into a small cove. I follow it and see a large, black dragon laying on its side. I scrambled down and look at it. It made me feel really bad that I killed it but It would be worth it. I touch it wearily and It moves taking me by surprise. I fall back and stair at its now wide open eyes. It looked so scared... I couldn't do this.

I get my small knife out of my waistband and start cutting the ropes binding it together. Once I'm done I look at it and it suddenly pushed me to the floor. I cry out and look at it in horror. I was going to die.

In my surprise, it got off me and licked my face, before trying to fly off only falling in the lake in the middle of the cove. I saw a missing tail fin and got an idea.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A week later I've still managed to avoid dragon training, but I've got closer to my night fury Toothless. We go flying together with the new fin I made him, but I have to help him fly. Today I will leave berk with him.

I arrive at the cove with all my stuff and call toothless. He bounds up and licks my face making me laugh. I turn to his saddle and attach my stuff before giving him some fish and hopping on his back,

"Let's go bud," I tell him as we take off into the unbelievably fluffy clouds. Just before we enter them I look back and think about my old home

Goodbye, forever berk.
