Station 19// Jack Gibson & Andy Herrera

Hindered

After the accused the accident I knew I wasn't gonna be able to work for a while but it's been 2 weeks and I'm only getting sorer. Dr grey said it could take up to a whole other month for me to even have work even be a possibility. Other than that jack has been super sweet to me. I don't know what I would do without him. As much as I want him to be jack can't be home during the day so all I have to human contact all day. I just can't help but feel hindered. I don't want to be helpless but I most certainly am. I didn't like when I couldn't do things by myself I've always been a very independent person that didn't rely on anyone but me. I was waiting for the clock to tick down and I knew jack would be getting home any minute. I heard him pull up then he opened the door. When he came in a teenage boy followed him in.
"Andy, this is Shawn," he said quietly
"He is gonna be staying here for a while," jack said patting the kid on his back.
I was very confused, I had no idea who this kid was. Jack showed him the shower and came back down stairs to talk to me.
"Look I know what your thinking, but he has no where else to go. We rescued him from the building and look I used to be in his place, no family, alone, no home," jack said sighing
I grabbed his hand letting him know that it was okay.
"He is just 16," jack said
"I know it's okay," I said honestly
The kid walked back downstairs after taking a shower and stood by jack.
"Shawn this is Andy," jack said
"Hey," the boy said quietly
I extended my hand so he would shake it, but instead he gave me a hug.
"Thank you," he whispered in my ear
I hugged him back. Jack showed him his bed and gave him some food. The next morning I woke up and slowly went downstairs. To see jack and Shawn sitting in the kitchen.
"Good morning," jack said kissing me on the cheek.
"Morning," I said back as I sat down.
"Shawn did you sleep good," I asked
"Yeah, better than I have in a long time," he smiled
I smiled happily.
"Look I know this isn't gonna last forever so thanks for the breakfast but I should probably leave," Shawn said losing his smile
"Actually you are gonna be here for as long as you want to be since we are you legal foster parents," jack said
"What, how," he said shocked
"Had the paperwork done yesterday," jack said
Shawn smiled and nodded. Jack went off for work and now it was just me and Shawn on the couch.
"So how did you end up this hurt," he asked
"Well my friend made a bad call which killed my best friends then she tried to walk out into the street, when I grabbed her back she accidentally pushed me and a car was coming," I said
"Wow," He said shocked
"I know crazy right," I smiled
" yeah, so I should probably tell you something about me then," the boy suggested
"Go for it," I said
"Well coincidently I actually want to be a firefighter," he smiled
"Maybe we could take you to the station sometime and show you how things work," I smiled
"Really," he asked
"Yeah," I reassured him
"No ones ever cared or have been this nice to me," the boy said with a sad face
"Well there is a first time for everything," I said pulling the boy in for a hug.
"It really means a lot " he said
"I know," I said to him
