You Don't Need to Read This

I  was driving in the dark tonight,

a song came on and reminded me of you.

I smiled, because it was a good memory.

I miss you.

I know things haven't been easy,

I know I broke your heart.

If only I had said my more carefully, not carelessly,

things wouldn't have fallen apart.

I saw that photo you took of yourself,

You look like you're doing well.

You looked happy.

And I can't help but be ashamed,

that I made you lose your smile for a while.

I don't know how to fix what I've done,

I can only say I'm sorry and that I didn't mean it.

I've never been  good at words,

never have been good with friends.

You don't have  to forgive me,

I can't take back what I said.

I know I didn't mean it,

even if I can't remember it.

But even if  you read this,

even if you choose not to,

I want you to know that I still love you.

And if you ever feel the need,

I'm still here.

I'll cheer you  on from afar.
