Sienna turned away from Francis' intense, piercing eyes, in fear of what they might be telling her. She immediately raced towards the direction Francis had pointed out to her, and for the first time in what had felt like years, she felt free. No cuffs around her wrists. No strains that can tie her to a bed. Just cold air breezing against her naked skin. How stupid Francis had been. This was her chance to look for an exit and plot a way to leave here.
When she turned the corner, she heard muffled noises and she shot her head up to see a group of people entering another red tent near by. It appeared to be the ones from breakfast and she noticed Mr Weinstein and Mason talking beside; it seemed intense.
Sienna jumped back in fright, hiding behind a pole nearby as they all disappeared into the tent. Her chest was heaving up and down; she knew she wasn't suppose to be out, and if Mr Weinstein seen her, she'd be in trouble. Or worse.
She waited until their voices faded out before creeping over to the porter potty that was close by. Her legs were shaking from the iced wind, and the terrified feeling of being present in this place; the reminder that this was reality.
She peered behind it, trying to see if their was any gate that could be unlocked, but it was too dark to see a thing. She tutted, but her plotting was interrupted by sizzling noises, and she furrowed her eyebrows. Sienna hesitated before stepping backwards, and although she was a few meters away, she could see inside the tent.
There was an enormous fire, that looked like it was being kept alive by something large in the middle of it. Sienna squinted but she couldn't make out what it was. She noticed everyone was now drinking out of the same-styled silver tin. Was this some sort of church?
" Nobody will touch the girl until I say." A voice, which she recognised as Mr Weinstein's said." That is if I do say so at all, my fellow Stampedes."
Stampedes?
Sienna's stomach twisted in revulsion as she knew they were talking about her. What did that even mean? Did they plan to hurt her more? Was he going to let them at her?
Panic built further inside Sienna, and she was about to run when her foot slipped back, and she fell right in to the mud patch beneath her.
She'd startled herself, letting out a small scream, and she scrambled her body backwards, her heart now pounding so harshly she could hear it in her ears. He was bound to come out now and see her here. Here searching for a way to leave.
Sienna turned rapidly, letting out another yelp when she bumped into a body, and she scurried away, placing her hands on her cheeks. She stared right ahead, only to see it was Francis, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes set on her. A dwarfish man was stood right beside him, his greasy blonde hair covering his eyes.
" Sienna," Francis said. " What have you been doing? I told you to be quick, you've been gone ages."
Sienna's face was still pulled back in fear, and she tried to say something, but her stubborn throat wouldn't speak due to the fact she'd never been a good liar. Francis knew by her behaviour that this was a woman living on the edge. He could see this place taking its toll on her already, and the way she was acting made things much more difficult for him.
