They say you never forget your first love. It's the one love you can never replace or move on from. For me, that was true.
My first love was Issac Miller, the son of Sasha and Greg Miller. He was the first guy that healed my broken heart after a guy dumped me. We fell in love and planned on having a future together, but like most things, life has a way of coming between you.
After Issac, I couldn't open up to someone new until I met Preston, who was the sweetest guy ever, or so I thought. We were like two peas in a pod and started planning a future together. He proposed, and I accepted happily. I couldn't wait to marry him until one day, my life crashed down around me.
"Maddison?" I heard someone say, breaking me from my thoughts.
I turned to see Grandpa Jake standing there in my office.
"Hey, Grandpa." I smiled.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I gave him a reassuring smile.
"Good because we have a wedding to plan," he told me. Greatttt. It is just a reminder that I will be single and die alone.
"Great. Who's the lucky couple?" I put on a happy face for him.
"Do you really want to know?" he asked me.
Why did I feel like my world would crash down around me?
"Sure." I smiled.
"It's Issac, sweetheart."
And there it is. Not only did my world crash down around me, but it practically felt like a piano dropped on me, crushing me to death. Can people die from an imaginary piano falling on their heads?
He gave me all the information I needed and left me to my own devices. I proceeded to bump my head on my desk and groan.
"I'm pretty sure that's not how you plan a wedding." My brother chuckled.
"It is when it's your ex's wedding'," I groaned with my head still on the desk.
"Issac?" He raised a questionable brow at me.
I lifted my head and looked at him. "The one and only."
"Well, that's... pretty shitty," he said in a non-comforting tone.
He wasn't any help. Of course, this comes from the guy who can't keep a girl longer than a few months. I, on the other hand, had to plan the wedding of my ex while dealing with the fact I live my life as a spinster.
I flipped through the pages of the information that Grandpa gave me. Issac was marrying a woman who was a pre-school teacher. She had that sweet, innocent look about her, with blonde hair and blue eyes. They were looking to have a simple wedding with daisies and wildflowers. Even their choice of flower screamed sweetness. Ugh.
I straightened the papers into a neat stack and flipped them upside down. If I read anymore, I would scream.
"Why do you look like you want to murder someone?" Valentina asked.
"Because I do." My lips turned downward before pursuing when I thought about Preston.
Preston was my fiancé before he blew our relationship to smithereens. Then, he became my ex-fiancé. We met during our junior year of college and dated for four years. Four years!
Preston proposed after we graduated college. I spent two years planning our dream wedding. Two!
I wanted a simple, intimate wedding since it was about us, not everything else. Grandpa helped me with all the preparations. Everything was set until I stopped by the apartment to grab paperwork for the venue and heard moaning. It didn't take a genius to figure out what was happening.
