The lake
It was a Sunday evening,
The lake outside seemed peaceful,
And everyone thought it was.
That was until the police cars came.
We all looked from our windows,
At the lakeside view.
Before we knew it,
The fire department came,
And started searching.
I wondered what was happening.
But eventually the truth came out.
You see, it may have been a lake,
But this lake had a secret.
That secret's now come out.
I have to say I'm deeply sorry,
For that secret proved someone's end.
The truth of that lake was,
That it hid a dead body beneath.
That person had been missing,
But now the body's found.
It wasn't a happy sight,
By the riverside that night.
That secret was the proof,
That someone was now dead.
Their family was hoping,
That he was still alive,
But their hope was shattered,
Because the lake did not lie,
About what was inside.
