Chapter 8: New Friends

Imani POV

Max and Joey put me and Sparrow in a pasture of our own before they collected the money they were payed before leaving. I stayed with Sparrow as he just watched the gathered people eye us. "I cant believe we got such a welcome from this town" he nickered looking from the crowd to me. "me either but I wonder how they will treat us" I said lowering my ears. "Stop worrying about that its okay, I wont let them harm you" Sparrow nickered kindly making me feel safer. I looked to the people who watched us from the fence. Scanning the crowd I found the girl and her dog who I could now see had some kind of vest on it. the girl again seemed to be looking at me but at the same time she seemed as if she wasn't looking at me. She stayed there when the other people left. I heard people question each other about me and whether I was safe to be around or not as they left. Sparrow moved away from me to meet the other horses in a pasture near by. I felt alone.... but not completely alone. I looked at the girl and her dog for a little before I moved a few steps closer to her. She seemed to wait patiently as I continued to walk closer and closer to her.

I stopped when I was just a few feet from the fence. By then I looked at her light grey (almost white) eyes. She's blind. I was shocked, a girl who was blind was very patient and she seemed to be very kind. I looked from her to her dog who just watched me. She walked closer to the fence sticking her head through the opening of the fence and looked up at me. "Hello" She barked wagging her tail. Lowering my head down to her level I nickered "HI." "I'm Miraculum, what's your name?" She asked tilting her head a little. "My names Imani" I answered perking my ears. "That's a unique name, what does it mean?" she asked wagging her tail even more. "My name means faith" I answered and I looked at her icy blue eyes. "Cool! My name is Latin for miracle!" She exclaimed happily. I heard the girl giggle a little so I lifted my head and looked at her. "Hi girl, my name's Myla" The girl said holding out her hand. I hesitated at first but then I sniffed her hand. Myla giggled a little. "Your very sweet and gentle" She complimented as she lifted her hand from under my mouth the stroke my muzzle. I nickered happily nuzzling her. She was different, she was very kind and sweet. She had a gentle touch and a gentle soft voice. She's all I could ask for in a human. "Myla!" Someone shouted spooking me. I reared before galloping away from the fence and a older man hugged Myla. "Dad?" She asked as the man took her hand. "You need to be careful around her, she's dangerous." His words hurt me. Just because I was wild doesn't mean that I would hurt someone who showed me that I could trust them. "Let's go home" He said as he led Myla away. "Come on Miraculum" he called and Miraculum looked from him to me. "I'm sorry" she said before running to catch up with Myla and her father. Why did he think I was dangerous?

          A few hours past from when Myla's father took her and Miraculum to their house. Sparrow had fallen asleep but I stayed awake, looking at the starry night sky. I felt my heart gallop back to my herd where Flash probably stood, looking at the stars thinking of me. Wondering where I was and if I'd ever return home to him. I often wondered when I'd be able to return home. where was my home? I didn't know anymore. The place Flash was at was where I was hated and I always felt unwelcomed. I questioned my purpose in life. All I've experienced is hatred and sadness expressed towards and from me. I've lost so much, first my mother, then my home and brother, and now.... two new friends. What was I on this earth to do? All the questions I have went unanswered. I didn't have a clue on what I should do. if I should jump this fence and run home where I would probably be greeted by angry snorts as welcomes from my father and the herd but a happy neigh welcome from Flash. Do I want that? or do I want to stay with Sparrow and try and form a friendship with Miraculum and Myla who seem to think I wasn't dangerous, but kind and gentle. I thought for a while before I put my mind to ease deciding to stay here and some day maybe take Myla, Miraculum, and probably Sparrow to visit my wild home and meet my brother. Knowing what I wanted to do now I soon fell asleep without a problem and slept through the night.
