Chapter 5

A/N I added a bit more in the beginning, and I hope it’s not too short, but enjoy!(:

We drove to my house to get a spare change of clothes and then we were off to the beach laughing and talking like nothing had ever happened and I’m glad because this is the way it should be. It’s just me and Jake just being normal teenagers going to the beach as normal best friends. I knew that he wanted something more at one point but I’m sure he’s past that and understands that we are just friends. Isn’t that how it’s always been meant to be?

We parked somewhere along the beach and got out of the car. Taking in a deep breath, the ocean smelled just like it always had. I’d missed this. I knew it was only a couple of days that I was gone, but it really felt like months.

I just sat there for a moment letting it all sink in as the wind blew through my hair.

  Suddenly I felt a warm presence behind me.

"Ready to go cliff diving Bells?"

"Of course!" I replied smiling brightly. I hadn't really gotten to do this for fun because last time I did it, I was alone and nearly killed myself. Jake guided me towards a cliff that didn’t look too big. It was definitely smaller than the one I jumped off of 4 days ago.

"Okay do you want to jump in first or are you too much of a whimp?"

Jake asked smirking

"I think you're forgetting that I jumped off a cliff twice the size of this one thank you very much!" I reminded him as I took off my tank top so that I was in my swim suit top. It was old but it covered me up so it worked. I kept the shorts I had on though because the bottoms were getting a bit too small. He grimaced at me probably thinking of the memory, but quickly lightened the mood.

"Right my little rebel child" he said jokingly

"Child? I am older than you"

" With your height I don't think so"

" Height has nothing to do with anything" I said confidently

"Yeah okay shorty"

"Hey it's not my fault I don't grow an inch a week like you do!"

"Yeah okay just jump in Bella!"

"Alright ready?"

"Yeah go on!"

I inched towards the edge and looked at the water. I really hoped it wasn’t too cold but I'm sure I'll get used to it even if it was. Maybe since summers coming  the waters were starting to get a little warmer. I closed my eyes, took a big breath and then took one big leap.

All of sudden I was flying. I screamed like there was no tomorrow as I felt the air flowing through my body. Splashing into the water, it felt like ice all through my skin as I swam to the surface. Yeah, definitely wrong about the getting warmer part. Right as I got to the top I heard a huge thunk right next to me.

"JAKE!"

"What?" he asked taking a deep breath and shaking the water from his black silky hair.

"You could have landed on me!!!"

" No I wouldn't I made sure I didn't"

"But still!"

"You worry too much. Even if I had you wouldn't have drowned. I saved you once I could save you again"

"Jake that's not the point"

"Bella let's just get out of the water you're probably freezing."
