        Aleks P.O.V

I entered the office and talked to the old lady sitting at the front desk, she handed me my schedule and I thanked her. I looked at the small sheet of paper. First, advanced algebra then, band, chemistry, lunch, business, and finally technology. I took social studies and language online so I didn't have to take them and I had a shorter day. I headed to room 107 or Mrs. Walton, it was upstairs... ugh stairs. I walked slowly up the stairs reaching the top, I am so out of shape holy shit. I whispered to myself. I followed the map until I reached my first class. Just as I was reaching for the door handle the bell rung. Great late on the first day.

I walked in only to be greeted by a class room full of staring teenagers and an old lady sitting at a desk. The room smelt of the dentist and was painted a pasty white. "Hello, are you the new student, Aleks right?" she asked politely. "Да, я Александр я в правильном классе?" (Yes, I am Aleksandr am I in the right class?" “Excuse me?” She asked “Aleks.” I said pointing to myself. “Oh, they said you might not be able to speak English, may I see your schedule?” she said slightly annoyed. I reached into my pocket and got my schedule out, and handed it to her. She scanned it over quickly before saying, “Yes, you are in the right class you can sit next to Seamus. Seamus please raise your hand.”

I turned around to see the cute blonde boy I met earlier raising his hand shyly. I nodded and sat in the desk next to him. I turned and smiled at Seamus, he looked confused. I think he is on to my scheme. The teacher just went on about some math stuff. A bit later Seamus passed me a piece of crumpled up paper that read “Hey, I thought you could speak English?” he knows fuck. I grabbed my pencil from my bag and wrote “I do I just don’t want to introduce myself or talk to people.” And passed it back to him. He nodded and wrote something else and passed it back. We kept passing the paper back and forth until the bell rung. I now know that we have 5 classes together and he has a friend in the class we don’t have together, Eddie I think his name was.  I parted my ways with Seamus and took out my map, looking for my next class, band/chorus with Mrs. Chamberlin. It was down stairs in a huge room next to the cafeteria.

It took me a while but I finally reached my destination. I looked at the huge building in front of me and entered. There was a group of kids playing guitars, and piano. The teacher was standing at a small music stand at the front of the class.  I walked over to her and cleared my throat, load enough for her to hear. She looked up, she was a small pasty young woman no older than 30, “Can I help you?” she asked as the bell rang. “I am the new student Aleks.” I answered. “Everyone take their seats, I have an announcement.” She yelled to the class.

Everyone quickly shuffled to the small row of seats in the middle of the class. “This is Aleks, he will be our new student. What do you play, Aleks?” She announced. “I play bass, I said quietly. “Alright so you can sit next to Michael.” She said pointing to a skinny, nerdy looking boy holding a nice looking blue Yamaha RBX170. I took the seat next to him and put my bag under the chair. The rest of the period went by quickly Eddie came over to me after we were told we got a free day. We talked about bands and some of their other friends. We like a lot of the same bands, and he said I could sit next to him and his friends at lunch so I am not alone. The rest of the period went by pretty quickly I talked to some kids about bass, and I played a little with some of them.

The next period was a blur I faked not knowing English again and sat next to Seamus. The teachers a bitch and I hate science so it was hell. Seamus and I talked through the whole thing so I have no idea what we’re doing.
