Chapter 16

“Damn it all to hell” Steel muttered as he got in his truck and made his way to Zane. This better be something important, or so help him. He was going to seriously mutilate Zane. Steel couldn’t help but smile as he drove, life seemed to be going his way once more.

She was here, the love of his life was finally back. He slide hid tongue over his lips and could swear he tasted her still. This had to be fate.  He shook his head, ready now to finish this job so he could take his woman home.

When he got to the place Zane was, he jumped out of the car without even putting it in park. He was forced to jump back in and pull the parking break. “Now that my friend, was a stupid move.” Zane laughed.

“Shut up, now what happened to make you call me? My woman just came back and I’m itching to be with her.” He said glaring.

To this Zane said nothing, he just held his hand out. Then he opened it and something was on his palm. Steel walked closer and took the little piece of what looked like a bullet from his hand. “What the hell is this?”

“Do you remember telling me that your buddy likes to make his own bullets?” Steel was eyeing the piece of what looked like indeed that, a bullet fragment. Then he saw it, part of the mark his buddy put on his bullets.

Steel closed his hand around the bullet fragment as he felt his gut clench. “Where did you find this?” He was sure, he wasn’t going to like the answer.

“I was able to get it before anyone saw it. Steel, man that bullet fragment came from Hope’s tire.” Steel closed his eyes not wanting to believe what he just heard. “What the hell are we going to do now?”

………….

Back at the farm. Leo Codey had received word that Rose Miller was back. “Don’t you go over there and piss off that girl Leo. “ His wife Sam cautioned.

He turned and gave her a kiss. “I’ll be nice, I just want her to know that my son has someone in his corner.”

He got in his car and drove to see the woman who had broken his son’s heart. Granted he too realized his son had no tacked, but he was a Codey; no question about it. Leo sighed as he rubbed his hand over his face.
