While getting ready for school on Tuesday morning, I heard someone knocking on the door downstairs. I was home alone so I had to rush down to answer. I made sure to look through the peep hole.

I opened the door, "Hey, good morning, What are you doing here?" I smiled.

"Um, Hi, just checking on you to see if you're okay. Would you like to walk to school together?"

"Alright sure, give me 10 minutes." I let him in.

I ran back up to my room, quickly sleeked my hair in a high bun, slipped on my black and white converse, popped on some lip gloss, took one last look at myself and headed out.

"So how are you doing?" Charles asked.

"I'm fine."

"Well I saw on the news that your friend is missing, anything on him?"

"No I don't think so, can we please change the subject, I don't want to sadden my morning with the thought."

"Alright then. Well I've been wanting to tell you and ask you something."

"Okay well ask then."

"Agnes, I really like you. I don't feel like an outcast when I'm with yo-"

I cut him off.

"You're not an outcast Charles."

Then he continued.

"Okay well when I'm with you, I feel wanted and I feel special. I know we haven't spent much time together but the little time we did, was worth it. I can't believe I waited this long to try making it official with you."

My stomach sank as he stopped and held both my hands. I was so happy. He got on his knees. What the...

"You're crazy." I laughed. I saw his left eye twitch a bit and grip on my hands tightened a bit. He's probably tense.

"So would you do me the honors of being my girlfriend?"

I knew I wasn't ready for this. I probably should've said no.

I said yes anyway.

He got up and hugged me tightly. "So can I get a kiss," he asked with a big grin.

"Slow down there buddy."

I actually hung with him for the rest of the day. Got to know him a bit more in some hours.

We have little in common though but that's what makes it interesting.

It would've been so boring if we had everything in common.

He laughed so hard at how I ate with almost all my fingers, I know it's untidy but come on. I'm glad that he likes me for me.

At that same moment, Conor, one of James' friends, was walking by with some of his football boys and he stopped,

"Hey weirdo." He passed his hands through Charles' hair.

I stood up for him immediately.

"Listen, back the fuck up." I said gesturing my hand for him to back up.

"So what weener head? Your getting it on with her now." He began to gyrate and hump the bench.

What a dick.

Next thing you know, Charles is on top of him repeatedly punching the shit out of his face. Damn, ouch.

I found myself tugging on Charles' shirt but he would not budge. Then I pulled his arm, same time he swung back and hit me in my face.

He quickly got up and came to me, his eyes are already red, like he wants to cry, "Agnes I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I thought you were one of those guys. I'm sorry baby. I feel disgusting. I'm sorry." He picked up his stuff and left me, apparently he couldn't stand the fact that he hit me.

It was a mistake anyway. I couldn't be mad.

I looked around for him, then I saw him at the side of one of the buildings crying.

I ran over to him.

"What's wrong?"

"I hit you."

"Baby it was by accident. Look there aren't any marks."

I took him in my small arms. Rubbed the back of his head and kept repeating, "it was an accident."

He suddenly lift his head and held my face in his palms, looked at me straight in my eyes for five seconds then our lips met.
