Chapter 9: Going Home
It's 3 o'clock, which means we're both good to go home. Frankie and I hold hands as we walk out of the hospital.
We walk over to the burnt remains of the restaurant where my car is parked.
Thank god I parked far away.
"This place is a wreck!" Frankie exclaims, looking at the remains in awe.
We walk through the disorderly parking lot, marveling at the burnt bits and pieces of cars and trucks.
We found my car and got in. I look over at Frankie, her beautiful dark brown hair glistening in the sunlight. I kiss her forehead. "I love you," I say. "I love you too." she replies.
Amazing how much of an effect 3 words can make.
Truly amazing.
Even so, they're still not enough to describe how I feel about her.

When we got home, I instructed Frankie to go straight to bed. Today, I was going to take care of her.
"Oh, come on!" she says, laughing.
"Doctor's orders," I reply with a smirk.
I help her into bed and then sit next to her on the opposite side. I turn on the TV.
We lie close together and watch reruns of old TV shows and movies.
Frankie puts her head on my chest, and I play with her hair.
"I love you," I say.
"I love you more," she replies.
"I seriously doubt that,"
She laughs.
