"you guys are beginning a new assignment." my professor states, as he stands up in front of the class. he looks down at a stack of papers, neatly placed on top of his desk. he quietly clears his throat.

"you will be assigned to interview someone important in our city, this is your last project, and it takes up over 50 percent of your grade. as you walk out of this classroom, you must grab a sheet of paper, and i will assign a person to you. if you have any questions, you may ask me otherwise, i strongly advise you all to do well." he says, taking a seat at his chair.

i check the time on my phone, class ends in a minute. "class dismissed, come to me and i'll assign." professor brown says.

i shove my phone in my back pocket, grabbing my bag, throwing it over my shoulders. students scroll over to professor brown, getting their assigned people. i swallow thickly, walking over to his desk.

"ah, scarlett. i have just the person for you." he says, scrambling through a few pieces of paper.

"jack gilinsky. he's the CEO of big enterprise. i want you to interview him, until you've gotten all the information on the sheet i had just handed you." i nod my head slowly.

i grab the two sheets of paper from his hands, "i hope you don't fail me. it's your last year in college. i know you'll do well. you are my best student; i have faith." he assures me. i smile, nodding my head once again.

"thank you, mr. brown." i smile weakly, exiting the room.

i had just arrived to my apartment, that i share with my friend ariana. she's been a good friend of mine since we were children. she's two years younger than me, a sophomore in college.

i'm majoring in journalism, hoping to write for something one day. starting tomorrow, i'm going to big enterprise's building, and interviewing jack gilinsky. i secretly hope he's not old and fat, that would make this entire project boring.

"scar? are you even listening to me?" i hear ariana groan loudly.

i snap out of my thoughts, looking at her. "huh?"

she rolls her eyes at me. "clearly you weren't." she clears her throat, "i was invited to go to a party." she says. i chuckle, shaking my head.

"have fun." she groans again, rolling her eyes.

"no! you have to come." she whines, i shake my head again. she drags me to these parties, just so she could get laid. it's not fun, talking to random drunk people.

"no, you always leave me alone." i say.

she sighs loudly, "please? i wanna go, that cute guy andrew? he's going and he wants me to come. i want to talk to him, maybe actually be something with him. he's so nice." she pouts, sticking out her bottom lip.

"if you're gonna be with him, what's the point of me going? besides, i have to be up early. i have to make up questions to ask this CEO for my project."

her eyebrows lift up, as she takes a seat next to me on the couch. "is it jack gilinsky?" she asks, looking down at my paper.

i nod, furrowing my eyebrows. "you know him?" i ask her. "no, just of him. he's apparently really hot, but he's so secretive and quiet. he's like never had a girlfriend or something." she says.

"but, he's like 25 or something. one of the youngest CEO's in the world." she continues.

i nod, taking all this information in, i won't ask him personal questions, seeing as he might not answer me. "tell me how it goes tomorrow." she says.

ariana stands up, "well, I'm gonna go to the party, alone. because you're a horrible friend and you hate me." she pouts again.

i roll my eyes, a small chuckle escaping my lips. "shut up, ariana. you love me."

"i may love you, but it's one sided. you don't love me." she runs her finger down her cheek as if she's crying. i push her away from me, a small laugh erupting in my throat.

"have fun." i give her a cheeky smile. she rolls her eyes, flipping me off as she walks into her bedroom.

"now onto my project." i whisper to myself, looking through the directions of my new project.
