i arrive back to my apartment around 10pm. my feet cramped from these heels, and i just wanted to change into some sweatpants and a t-shirt. oh and take off these heels.
i step inside, seeing drew and iris passed out on the couch. ariana sat on our recliner chair, staring at the tv that said 'are you still watching?' she had a bowl of popcorn on her lap. i walk over to her, shaking her shoulder. she screams loudly, "what the fuck?" she asks loudly.
drew mumbles something, then looking up at us. "you guys are so loud, shut up." a loud groan escapes his lips, making me chuckle loudly.
"i'm gonna go home." drew says.
he picks up iris, kissing both ariana's and i's cheek. "bye, drew. text me when you get home." ariana says.
he exits the apartment without another word, i sit down on the couch. "so, what happened?" ariana asks, sitting down next to me.
"his family was so nice. he also had two friends over, jack Johnson and sam wilkinson. they're both cute." i tell her.
she gasps. "jack johnson?"
i nod, "you know him?" i ask her.
"sort of. he and one of his friends... i don't know the name, are big partiers. i've gone to one of the parties, complete rager." she explains.
"he doesn't seem that way..." i shrug.
-
i arrive to jack's office, knocking lightly. "come in." a deep, even voice muffled from inside. i pushed open the door, jack looking up from his computer screen. he looks back down, and i sit. "i have a meeting in about five minutes. are you joining?" he asks.
"if that's okay with you-"
"it's fine. you may write about this meeting, i'm giving someone a promotion." he explains, a smile on his face.
"that's amazing, what are they gonna do?" i ask him.
"they're going to work on the floor above mine. for landscaping." he says quickly, turning off his computer. he stands up, shoving his computer in the case.
i take that as my cue to stand up as well. "so, uh, i start. "did you know that you've always wanted to work in this field?" i ask him. i figured this would be an appropriate question, as the opening line of my paper.
"yes. i have." he quickly answers. he walks over to the door, waiting for me to exit. i quickly walk over to the door, him behind me. we walk down a long hallway, in silence.
he straightened his shirt, and his tie before pushing the door open. i sat in the corner of the table, closest to jack and took notes on how he interacted with his clients. i wrote down in my notebook a few questions to ask him, after this meeting.
he seemed to be in a happier mood in this meeting. he smiled, he talked about business and how hardworking this man was. he gave the promotion, both of the men with smiles on their faces. i could tell that this job meant so much more than he put out.
after this meeting was finished, they shook hands and he turned and left the room with the same confident strut that he had before.
we walked back into his office, in the same seats as earlier. "i hate to be a bother..." he starts. "would you mind if you got us some lunch? i've got to send a few emails out. here," he writes on a sheet of paper.
"this is my order, take my credit card. there's a small cafe down the road, you can order whatever you'd like." he says. "i wrote my pin code down on the paper as well."
i grab the piece of paper and his credit card. he wants a half iced tea- lemonade and a buffalo chicken wrap with home style fries. "okay. I'll be back soon."
i exit the office in a rushed manner. i stroll to the parking lot, entering my car and driving the short way to the cafe. i park outside, stepping out of the cafe. i push open the door, walking up to the counter. i wait behind a man and a woman, taking in what the cafe looks like.
there was a large seating area, waiters and the tables were filled by customers. "next!" i walk closer, and order jacks food, and mine. "that'll be $12.60." the girl smiles.
i place jack's card in the machine, i glance at the paper, looking for his pin. 1234, cute.
i move to the side, waiting for the food after i payed. few moments later, the food was called up. i grab the bag, and the drinks, exiting the cafe.
-
"here." i hand the food to jack. he smiles lightly, "thanks." he mumbles.
"okay, well, i'm gonna be busy for the rest of the day, you can head home." he says.
i nod, grabbing my bad, shoving the to-go bag in there, as well as my notebook and phone. "okay, have a good day, mr. gilinsky."
"goodbye, ms. rose." i exit the large building, climbing into my car. i grab my lunch, taking a bite of it as i pull out of the parking lot.
i arrive back to my apartment, expecting to be alone for the rest of the day. it was just hardly 2pm.
i walk inside, seeing ariana, iris, and drew. "hey, guys." i greet them. i set my bags down on the kitchen counter. i grab my iced coffee, taking a sip of it. i enter the living room, taking a seat down next to drew.
"you're back already?" he asks, putting his arm around my shoulder.
"yeah, he said he was busy for the rest of the day." i tell him. he nods, "well, easy day, huh?"
i let out a short laugh, "yeah, something like that."
i reach in my coat pocket, to grab my phone, but pick out jack's credit card. my eyes widen, and i let out a gasp. "shit!" i stand up abruptly.
"what?" ariana asks, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. "i left my phone on jack's desk, but i took his credit card!" i explain.
iris lets out a laugh, "buy some stuff. he's rich." she winks.
i narrow my eyes at her, shaking my head. "i have to give it back to him, i hope he doesn't get angry." i mumble.
"it was a mistake, he's not gonna get angry." ariana says.
i shrug my shoulders, "hopefully."
-
i enter the building for the third time today, greeting jennifer. "back already?" she asks, a smile plastered on her lips.
"i left my phone here." i chuckle. she nods, "go on up to his office, i'll let him know you're here." she says. "thank you, so much." i smile, making my way towards the elevators.
i press his floor once i enter the vacant elevator.
once it was on his floor, i exit the elevator and walk down the long hallway to his room. i knock, waiting to hear his voice. "come in." i hear.
i enter, seeing two older women sitting on the two chairs in front of his desk. one looked about 40, and the other looked slightly older than me. "i- um, left my phone here and accidentally took your card." i tell him, handing him his credit card.
he lets out a soft chuckle, "that's alright. here." he hands me my phone, and i quickly thank him.
the two women look at me in disgust, i tried not to grow intimidated. i stand up straight, "um, i'll see you tomorrow?" i ask him.
"yes, that'd be great." he smiles. i smile back, glancing at the two women. i give them a fake smile, leaving his office.
