As per usual, I woke up to Lyndsey excitedly yelling something into my ear. That woman acted like every morning was Christmas morning. Both Aspin and I groaned, neither of us were morning people in the slightest. Lyndsey kept going however, practically squeaking with all her excitement.

We were in the group bedroom for us humans. Several beds lined the walls, toys were in the center of the room. We had our own bathroom, complete with human sized sinks and toilets. It was colorfully painted, like a children's play room. 6 months earlier, and I'd have been embarrassed to sleep in there. Now, I don't mind one bit, I even like the cheery motif. We all slept in there, though we had free reign of the house and yard. If I wanted to, I could march right out the front door and be gone. I didn't want to, pet life was too good to leave behind.

I sat upright in my bed, watching Lyndsey zoom around the room like she won the lottery. She'd been here the longest out of all of us (save for Jak and Jeen) it really showed. We all had our fun, but she had the most. She was jumping on her bed now, I groggily watched her. She was much more excited than usual.

"What's going on?" I asked her in between yawns.

" It's Halloween, Holli! " she said, the largest grin I'd ever seen spreading across her face. It took me.a second to register this in my mind. Since I'd been taken from Earth, I hadn't even really thought of the date. I was taken in march. I'd been away from my home planet for seven months. I hadn't bothered to ask.

Lyndsey must have seen my slight frown, because she tackled me in my bed. This was normal for us, being a pet dissolves you inhibitions and lets you be yourself. No one was going to judge you, and our dog-men encouraged these sorts of things.

Lyndsey had immediately shaken me out of my misery. It helped that she went "Oooooooooooo!!" Like a ghost as she tackled me. I was giggling along side her, wresting her off my bed. We tussled for several minutes, giggling like all hell.

We were interrupted by two more giggles by the door to the room. They weren't human giggles, but that of our dogmen, Merle and Grene. Merle was my dogman, I was his human. Lyndsey was Grene's. The two were leaning against the door frame, laughing at us. We both immediately stopped, glaring at them. This sent the pair into hysterics.

Lyndsey and I rolled out of bed and approached the dog-men. We were both blushing. Merle composed himself and said a bunch of things, including their words for treats, fun, bath, breakfast, dog-men, humans, and our names. This had become a regular routine, Merle would greet me each morning and tell me what I would do that day. I knew today was the day I'd get a bath, which didn't bother me. It used to, but not anymore. I figured we'd be doing something for Halloween, as he mentioned treats, dog-men, and humans. If he'd meant anyone who lived here, he'd use their names or the word "family".

Grene finally composed himself, wiping away a tear. He told Lyndsey what she'd be doing as well, repeating most of the same words. The two of us were led into the bathroom of the pet room, where we were given clothing to wear.

Our Dog-men always chose our clothes for us, and I really didn't mind. I didn't have to worry about what to wear and if it was embarrassing, I could blame it on the dog-man. Merle had gone with the Halloween motif, choosing an orange blouse and black yoga pants. Lyndsey got a dress with small embroidered pumpkins, which she lovingly held at arm's length before Grene helped her put it on.

She grinned madly while Merle helped me with my clothes. Merle took careful note of the marks left on my right arm as he pulled it through, it was still marked by the crash landing on our way home. It didn't hurt anymore, but each stitched-up puncture had a small line. He frowned slightly, then gave me a wide smile when his eyes met mine. He gave me a kiss on my cheek, still smiling.
