It was time to put on our costumes. We were each taken into separate rooms by our dog-men, who helped us into our costumes. After we were dressed, they'd put on the costumes we chose for them.
He didn't let me get a good look at my costume before he put it on me. It included a hat of some sort, a purple shirt with decorations I couldn't see, and a piece of plastic put over my nose. The nose was mildly annoying, but I quickly got over it.
With the costume on, Merle seemed happy with his choice. He was grinning at me, his tail wagging. I smiled back, he was goofy looking like that. On the floor was a bag with writing on it, I recognized the shape of the contents to be his costume. It was designed to be worn with normal clothing, so all he had to do was put the headband on and slip the dome over his head.
I was giggling like mad at his costume. He didn't seem as amused as I was, but smiled back at me while I laughed. He might be 8 feet tall, but he was still cute at times. The dome was barely large enough to fit his huge head, and the alien attenae didn't make it past his ears.
Once I had composed myself, he took me to a mirror so I could see my costume. He'd been nice to me and chose something not embarrassing, I felt mildly guilty for having chosen something so silly. I was wearing a purple shirt with an orange band and a small, fake spider accent. There was an orange ribbon choker around my neck. I had a purple and orange witch hat on, with a plastic witch nose on my face. I chuckled at my silly appearance.
Merle was laughing at himself in the mirror too. The little green antennae wobbled as he did so, soon we were both laughing, at ourselves, our costumes, and each other. we were both wiping away tears when Pynke popped her head in to call us out. She was dressed as a dog-man police officer, with the grey uniform and purple hat. She waved both of us out into the living room so we could all see each other's costumes.
Aspin's costume was the first I saw. He was pouting in the hallway. He was dressed as a Dog-man, with large ears affixed on a headband and a fluffy tail. He had a big, black nose affixed to his face. Vyelet was dressed as a zombie, parts of her fur colored green and fake bones showing. She was still trying to coax him into the living room between short breaks of laughing at him.
Lyndsey was dressed as a lady pirate, with a skirt, blouse, and boots. She was grinning happily, clearly pleased with her costume. Grene didn't seem to get the reference for his costume, he was happily adjusting his mummy bandages so that he could move properly. he was trying to fix Lyndsey's hair to match her costume while she tried to greet me.
Ami was dressed as a cowgirl, complete with leather boots and a cowboy hat. She had holsters for a fake plastic gun, which she held casually as she was speaking to Steele. The poor dogman was dressed up as a budgerigar, complete with a onesie and fake plastic beak. He was clearly very embarrassed, his arms crossed while his human cooed over him. I snickered a bit when I saw this, Ami beamed at me in pride of her find.
Grae and Vyelet had managed to get Aspin into the living room with a combination of pushing and lifting him, he had curled into a ball to try and make things more difficult for them. Dog-men were strong, so it was only a mild inconvenience.
All the humans (myself included) had a good laugh at the dog-men's costumes. Steele had the most embarrassing, but we all agreed that Merle's was the most ironic, despite Lyndsey's attempts to debate that her Anubis was better.
Pynke and Grae and gone around and snapped pictures of us while we all chatted and our dog-men put the final touches. I had been moved in front of Lyndsey so that Grene could finish styling her hair while she talked to me. Merle was putting fake cobwebs and spiders in my hair.
Once Merle was finished with my hair, he ran into the other room for a few seconds before returning with an old broomstick. I grinned at my new prop, happy to have something to hold. Aspin was the only one who didn't get something to hold, but his hands were too busy crossed around his chest out of disapproval.
We were all gathered back into the living room to have our photo taken. we all held our props up for the camera while the snapshot was taken. Afterward, we were led back out to the front yard, where the decorations were up, where we'd wait for the guests to arrive.
