Jaric made his way to the Overseer's office after his encounter with the two Sith Acolytes. He entered the office while Tremel was speaking to a student.
Acolyte: Yes Overseer!
Tremel: Good. Now go back to your master before I cut you in half!
Tremel was calm in delivering his threat, sending the student walking away in a quick pace past Jaric.
Jaric: Did I miss something?
Tremel: Nothing you need to involve yourself. I heard you had an encounter with some of the other acolytes. Care to explain yourself?
Jaric thought up his response carefully and replayed the encounter in his head.
Jaric: You could say that Overseer. They talked big, nothing more.
Tremel was unimpressed by the boy's response.
Tremel: Elron is every bit your equal! Do not underestimate him!
Jaric: What? How did you....
As Jaric attempted to ask, Tremel cut him off.
Tremel: I know everything that goes on in this Academy. You're lucky acolyte.
Jaric: Why's that, Overseer?
Tremel: The last time Elron paid a fresh acolyte a visit, he ended up dead the following morning. He left quite a mess as well.
Jaric couldn't imagine the thought of Elron actually carrying out his threats. He seemed like someone who was all bark an no bite. But according to the Overseer, that was not the case.
Jaric: He'll get his soon enough!
Tremel remained unimpressed.
Tremel: Be careful acolyte. Many others like yourself had brave words like that. They ended up dead not too long after. Foster your hatred of Elron. You might just survive.
Jaric would take Tremel's words seriously. He would not underestimated his rival and end up like other failed acolytes.
Jaric: Consider that lesson taught.
Tremel: I have a task for you.
Jaric: What will you have me do?
Tremel: Go to the prison. The jailer shall brief you upon arrival.
Jaric: Consider it done Overseer.
Jaric then left Tremel's office to make his way to the prison. Jaric arrived to the jail and saw the prisoners.
Prisoner: Please! I've done nothing wrong! Why can't you understand! I'm innocent!
Jailer: Quiet down you blubbering fool!
The jailer saw Jaric entering the prison and walked to him.
Jailer: You must be Tremel's acolyte.
Jaric: I am. What do you need of me?
Jailer: We have some prisoners. There fate is in your hands. Simple as that.Nothing too complicated.
Jaric: That's it?
Jailer: That's it.
The jailer showed Jaric to the first prisoner who Jaric would judge. The prisoner was a Cathar woman leaning in her cell.
Jaric: What is she charged with?
Jailer: This was caught killing an Imperial official. She put up a good fight until we managed to knock her out.
Cathar: I told you assholes everything!
Jailer: She doesn't deny the killing. However she hasn't revealed her employer. We can only assume it's Republic. But your guess is as good as mine.
Cathar: I never met the contact! Bastard never showed his face!
Jailer: This is an interesting case. How will you decide her fate? Will you kill her or give her a trail by combat. Either way it's your call.
Jaric thought long and hard about the case and the facts behind them. He made his decision basd on how much it would benefit the Sith.
Jaric: I have a different idea. How about we use her instead?
The jailer took an interest in Jaric's answer.
Jailer: Interesting. What reasons for this?
Jaric: Her skills could benefit the Empire. You said it yourself, she put up a good fight. The Empire needs assassins.
The jailer was impressed by Jaric's reasoning.
Jailer: Understood. I'll notify Imperial Intelligence. I'm sure they'd be interested in new assassins.
Suddenly, the jailer received a call from his communicator and answered it. Once the call ended, he turned to Jaric.
Jailer: It seems Inquisitor Zi'lesh has need of you. We're done here.
Jaric: Where do I go?
Jailer: His quarters are upstairs next to the library. Can't miss it.
Jaric: I wouldn't want to keep Inquisitor Zi'lesh waiting.
Jailer: I'll let Overseer Tremel know about your work here.
Jaric: Thank you. It's been an honor!
Jailer: Likewise acolyte. You have promise I'll tell you that!
Jaric left the prison on route to Inquisitor Zi'lesh and whatever task he had for the boy.
