The day started off as usual. I got up, got ready and headed to work. There was nothing to be worried about. That was until I got to work. When I drove into the parking lot, I was surprised to see so few cars parked outside and the ones that were there had their windows shattered. I shrugged it off and walked up the front door, it was locked. Now I was starting to worry.
"Hello, Anyone there?" I called out knocking on the door. There was no answer. I walked back over to my car and got in. It was the Honda 2086 plastic model with almost everything made of plastic. Actually, if I think of it everything is made of plastic. The National Parks, beaches, sea life and a lot of other things are made from plastic.
Apparently back when my mother was a child sea life did exist and it was real. However, the humans threw so much trash in the sea and oceans that most of them died. It is said only a few sea animals exist, but they are kept under high surveillance. Now, all we know of these exotic creatures are plastic robots and plastic models of them.
That's life I guess, things just disappear for good and go extinct. Back in 2020, the scientists thought the oil supply would run out by 2071, but then the Americans found a solution. No one is sure what the solution was but suddenly plastic was everywhere. I'm not sure myself when the last time I saw an old brick house. Plastic is probably even in the water I drink every day.
I snapped out of whatever I was thinking when someone walked up to me in my car and started knocking at the hard plastic window.
I sighed and rolled down my window and asked, "What is it?"
"Ma'am if you are here for your job," they pointed at my workplace, "then come with me."
"Oh okay, let me get out of my car then," I said to the person even though my stomach twisted itself in a knot when saying it. The person was short and was wearing a black plastic cloak over their head, shielding their face from view. I followed them along the road unsure of what I was getting myself into.
...
After what must have been hours of walking the person finally stopped walking. I tried talking to them but they stayed silent during the walk. They motioned me to come closer, so I slowly shuffled over to him. They smiled at me.
"You will be perfect," they smirked, "All of your other co-workers didn't seem as great as you." it happened so fast, yet I saw everything they did. They lifted up what looked like to be a metal knife, a very rare item, and pushed it forward into my chest. I gasped for air as the blood drained from my body.
They just stared down at my body and said, "You've become the plastic."
