One minute I felt normal, then, it felt like a weight was pressing on my back. That was just the start.

A girl sitting near me, let out a blood-curdling scream. I whipped around in my chair to catch a glimpse of the quietest kid in the class, Jacob, levitating over his desk. Jacob had a look of horror on his face.

Next, my friend Ava screamed and pointed at me! I turned my head around, so I could look where she was pointing at my back because I still couldn't shake that feeling of pressure... I had wings? "OH, MY GOD! I HAVE WINGS!" I screeched.

Where the heck is the teacher! My mind raced. What should I do? Where should I go? What would my parents say if they saw me like this? I scanned the room for my teacher, Miss Scott but couldn't see her anywhere. The classroom was chaos. I closed my eyes and tried to clear my head when I heard my teacher's voice raised above the pandemonium, "SETTLE DOWN EVERYONE!-EVERYTHING...?"

I opened my eyes to see Miss Scott standing in front of the class, looking a bit shaken. "Ok, The police will be here soon, just calm..."

Miss Scott was suddenly interrupted by the school loudspeaker. A calm, even-toned lady's voice could be heard through the intercom. "Students, you have no reason to fear, Miss Rocking will help you all." The speaker crackled then went silent.

The class turned to look back at Miss Scott, who stood in front of the class scratching her head.

Suddenly my wings, (which had been tucked behind me, squished between my chair and my back) spread and flapped. I looked at me nervously. I tried to command them to tuck back in, but they started flapping stronger. A voice in my head whispered, tempting me. "Victoria, your wings don't obey your commands from the brain. They obey your heart. Do you really want to be sitting in your chair when you could be flying, like in your dreams? Looming just over the heads of your fellow students?"

I tried to fight it, but the voice was so strong and soothing. I gave in to my wings and lifted out of my chair to float above my class.

I felt at ease. I had never felt so comfortable in my own skin. I flapped my wings as I floated. The wings made me feel so powerful. My class held on to their book and things that covered their desks like tablecloths. I aimed my wings toward a particularly annoying kid called Austin. Everything blew off his table and his chair fell over with him in it. "Oops, Sorry"

Miss Scott looked like she was about to explode, So I started to sink slowly into my chair. Miss Scott turned into a black smoke and moved in about 0.3 seconds in front of my desk. I looked up at her. My jaw dropped and everyone in the class looked at Miss Scott and me. Miss Scott's eyes glowed an obsidian black as she spoke to me. "Victoria Lyra Briggs, Don't use powers in class"

I stared at Miss Scott, It became noticeable I and Jacob weren't the only ones with powers. I searched the class for anyone else who seemed different. I saw a normal class with- One empty chair. I was sure that Ava had been sitting there a few minutes before. "Miss Scott, Where's Ava?"

Everyone in the room turned to look at Ava's empty chair. "I'm right here"

The voice seemed to echo from nowhere. "Ava, Your invisible" my voice was shaky as I realized that even the most perfect friendship in my life (Well second most perfect) had just been destroyed. An unmistakable whimper came from Ava. Miss Scott looked at the empty chair. "Ava, Let me see your face"

Miss Scott looked at the chair. "No powers in this classroom"

Ava's form slowly appeared. "Anyone else with powers?"

Miss Scott seemed like she had better control, She never acted like this, powers or no powers. "Victoria"

She turned back to me. "Since I know you can fly and I guess you can fly fast, Check the other classes and see if the same thing has happened to them!"

I peeked outside the classroom to a busy hall filled with kids who looked scared and some looked like they would bully or manipulate other kids with their powers. I walked down the hall not meeting anyone's eyes, Partially because I was scared, Partially because I didn't want to see their gaping mouths. As I walked some people shot their powers at me. Ice shards, Fire breath, Gusts of strong air and Other things that could knock me off my feet. Each I dodged as easily as the previous. When I reached room 202 the class next door I turned to see kids looking at my wings and the lockers which had been destroyed by the countless shots aimed at me. I rose off the floor and bet my wings hard as I could trying to knock the other students off their feet. It worked! The student went flying down the hall. That's when I noticed a camera aimed at me I bet my wings again knocking out three feathers, They flew into the camera and broke it on impact. I dashed into the classroom before anyone could aim anything at my back.
