Sam's POV
Walking through the woods was always calming. The sound of the wind rushing through the trees, the animals scuffling around in the leaves, and the sound of my footsteps on the the soft earth beneath my feet. These things are wonderful but... These woods haven't felt the same for several reasons. People have been going missing for the past two months around the secluded parts of town. Especially the Woods.I wasn't going to let this stop me! After all, this was supposed to be a calming walk. I feel like I'm being watched and I can hear noises all around me but.. It has to be the animals right? Yeah... That's what it is... I think.. At least I hope it is...
I'll just keep walking for a while. It's gotta be my nerves. I can't shake the feeling of being watched. It may be a stalker. I better get out of here while I still can. It's getting really dark.
"Hey, that's weird..." I said to myself, noticing a light coming from a bush a few yards away. I as I approach the light, I shoot a quick glance over my shoulder. "It's nothing Sam... " I said, reassuring myself. I knelt down to the bush's level and reached towards the light. Then, I pulled the source from the bush and discovered that the light was coming a small, out of season paper Halloween lantern. It was a pale white moon with a black bat printed on the center of it. But... Why was it here?
I began to hear rustling in the tree above me and look up. There was a dark hooded figure staring down at me from above. They swung down and quickly managed to tie a rope around my neck and lift me just above the ground. I started to panic. Reaching for the rope, trying to get it far from my closing throat. But I couldn't. My legs were flailing and kicking, my eyes were watering, and I was gagging on what little air I had left. The only thing I could think was I was going to die. Suddenly, a white cloth slipped over my face. The only thing I could inhale was the strange chemical being forced over my mouth and nose. It burned. Then, my leg's movements began to slow and my vision began to fade. I could feel my body grow still and I could see nothing but darkness.... And then.... I passed out.
