I have been abused emotionally and domestically ever since I lost my father. My mother died when giving birth to me. The day my father died in a tragic accident, I wanted to join him too.
I lived with a man and a woman who constantly remind me that I have no one to run to and they make me do a lot of hard work and say hurtful words.
I felt like the whole world rejected me and treated me harshly except the waters.
I ran as fast as I could one evening, the wind rustling through my hair. I didn't stop until I got to the only once that seems to be peaceful.
The beach.
I love the waves. I want to be free like the waves. Beautiful and free. I ran into the water giggling like a little child with no worries. I knelt down and touched the water with my fingers and washed my face;and my pains.
I looked up, the big wave was coming. Surfers rushed into the water with their boards to ride it. I stepped back out of the water onto the beach sand to watch. It was majestic. An experience I never wanted to end but I had to go.
You could always come back. I comforted myself.

"You are cursed McKayla! You caused your father's death with your bad luck and now you think you can kill me. Get out! Evil child!"
Her yells followed me as I ran outside. I looked up at the sky sobbing. A wind rushed suddenly reminding of the waves. I ran towards the direction of the beach longing to see its beauty, wanting to go to my world. As I neared the beach I had an uneasy feeling but I quickly shook it off. I closed my eyes and ran into what I expected was water only to feel solid things.
I opened my eyes and gasped in my horror. Everywhere was filled with Plastic!
This isn't my world. This world was choked, dirty and ugly. My world was gone. I thought of the wild life and realised they are homeless just like I am.
My world has been invaded by plastics. I sobbed loudly staring into what was once beautiful waters. I felt a presence around me. I turned around and recognized one of the surfers.
"We aren't going to let them are we?"he asked.
I wiped my tears with my palm and replied fiercely "No. It's our world and we are going to fight back. It's high time humans know of the danger ahead and it's our job to ensure it happens. Let's take back what belongs to us."
I, he and the surfers started picking up the plastics. No more plastic invasion.

Thanks everyone for reading. I hope this inspires you all. It's our world and plastic isn't gonna take it. Not on our watch. We need to ensure plastic doesn't spoil the beauty of God's creation. Thanks.
Bernice.
