|•|The water reflected the orange and pink sky, and trees and shrubs had outlines of a golden orange color. A cool breeze whisped by, and the lights began to turn on on a very large, yet fancy and neat house by the lake. A person stood by the lakehouse's balcony, overlooking the the colorful lake.
Cancer stood by the doorway, watching as Scorpio tipped her head to look at the sky. A small breeze blew by, making the strands of brown hair on Scorpio's face swish. In the low orange light, her brown eyes turned into a golden brown color. Outside on the balcony, alone and observing the sky and lake, Scorpio looked calm and more at peace than ever.
It was rare to see her like that. Scorpio's gaze and stature was always undeniable sharp and full of tact. When she was angry, the fire in her gaze scared the crap out of Cancer and the others. Maybe not Capricorn, but he would see Sagittarius and Pisces flinch from her gaze.
The flames in her eyes matched the flames of desire that was in Cancer's heart. Not that she would ever know.
They were close, and Scorpio's teases always threw him off. Did she mean it? Did she return his affections? Cancer knew she wasn't one to play around with the idea of love, but he thought her flirtatious actions were friendly and didn't mean anything at all.
But it meant something to him. Cancer felt pained, trying to know if her actions had intent or were just friendly. Even the little things she would do would distract him. His mind would spend the whole day thinking over one small minor thing. Scorpio's eyelashes fluttering at him, a brush of their shoulders together, the remarks she made, or the pet names she called him.
His buddy Taurus said that Scorpio might have feelings for him. Her heart was secretive, as well as her mind, but Taurus felt liked there was something between the two of them that was special and different from what Scorpio had with anyone else.
Cancer hoped so.
So alone out here, watching the beautiful sunset on a lovely summer evening, he wanted to make a move.
Cancer loved her with all his heart, yet he couldn't bear to tell her that just yet. Panic had taken a hold of his mind, but right now seemed like the perfect time, since they were alone, and he felt more confident within each passing moment to tell her. Especially since Aries and the others were busy inside. Although, what would he say, or how would he say it?
'Scorpio, we've been friends for a while, but I think we should take it to the next level.' Cancer thought, trying to find the right words to say. 'Scorpio, there's something I want to tell you.' He began walking up to Scorpio. "Scorpio I have something to tell you." The brown haired woman turned around to look at him, surprise lighting up on her face. Just as he opened his mouth to tell her, Aries's scream interrupted any words he said.
"The kitchen's on fire!" Cancer turned around, and so did Scorpio. Cancer turned back to look at his friend, who had a look of confusion on her face, then he dashed towards the kitchen. Scorpio, who stood dumbfounded for a moment, and followed soon after Cancer.
As Cancer arrived in the kitchen, bright orange flames were covering a loaf of bread. "What the heck Aries!" He turned to look at said woman. Aries stood with her arms crossed, and beside her, a very sorry-looking Sagittarius.
"We tried to cook eggs." Sagittarius explained meekly. Aries poked Sagittarius's shoulder.
"Libra came and squirted something on the bread as I was cooking the eggs. We were making some of my very awesome egg sandwiches." Aries explained and gave a towel to Sagittarius. Sagittarius took the towel and started to run, perhaps looking for Libra to swat.
As Cancer turned around, he found Scorpio already extinguishing the loaf of bread on fire. The white smoke rose to the ceiling, and disappeared. Aries left the kitchen, cursing out loudly about Libra. "I didn't know we had a fire extinguisher." Cancer said, watching Scorpio.
"It was beside the door." Scorpio relied nonchalantly. "I've been waiting to use this." She placed the fire extinguisher down and looked at the soggy loaf if bread. "Gross." Getting a few peices of paper towel, she picked it up and put it in the garbage. "So, before this. What were you trying to tell me?"
'Oh shit.' Cancer thought, losing his resolve. He glanced over at the entrance of the kitchen, where movement had caught his eye.
Somehow, his buddy Taurus had appeared, watching the two with a curious gaze. Weird, since Taurus was the one to offer his sight on their relationship, and was now here the moment Cancer was about to 'talk' with Scorpio.
"Uh," He started, watching as Scorpio raised a brow. 'Come on, say it!' His mind whispered. 'Wait! No! Don't! Quick think of something you stup-'
"Scorpio...I really like you, and I just.." Cancer trailed off, thinking he just made the absolutely worst decision of his life. What was he expecting? Scorpio would say she liked him back? That they would start dating? Heck, if he had thought this through he would've bought her some tigerlilies, a box of chocolates and read her a romantic poem that explained how deep his love was for her. Cancer would've swept her away with gifts and dote on her.
But he jumped at a moment that was perfect, and he wasn't ready for it! Cancer had really screwed up.
"I just thought I should let you know that." He ended, giving her a grin. Cancer's mind criticised him, but he was too busy from waiting for her reply.
Scorpio looked surprised, but her expression faded to a smirk. "I already knew that, you stupid dork." She said, and punched him on the shoulder. "I always catch you staring, and I knew who exactly left that note at the bottom of my door." She gave him a knowing smile.
"Now excuse me, I need to use the bathroom." Scorpio showed herself out, heading towards the bathroom. "Perhaps I'll answer to your little note, so keep watch for one tonight."
Taurus watched as Scorpio went past him, and then he walked up to Cancer. "Note? What note? You never told me anything about a note." He asked.
"Ah, it's nothing." Cancer smiled, staring at the floor. He definitely wasn't expecting for the note to be replied to, but he felt more confident that Scorpio did return his feelings.
