~*The Poppy Girl*~

She was just lying there, asleep? Unconscious? A heavenly angel, my heavenly angel. How long has she been here? How long will she be here? When will here eyes flutter open and let me into her soul? Who is this girl? Why do I feel like I know her? And why do I feel this way for someone I just met? Well I have watched her over the years so I know her but not personally and plus she doesn't have a clue who I am.

How long will it take for her to let me in?

My Poppy Girl...

Chapter 1: Our Poppy Field

It has been a full ten years now since Winnie Bran, my best friend disappeared from here. The poppy field in the woods.

We used to run of when our parents weren't looking and come here. Our place. No one knew about it but me and her that's why I don't understand how she went missing.

~Ten years ago~

"Iliza, c'mon. Come on while our mum's aren't watching." Winnie said well whispered. Her green eyes full of excitement. I took her hand and ran into the woods with her. Winnie's blonde hair flying behind her as we ran. Our summer dresses going this way and that as we made our way through the maze of the tree's.

We finally reached our location. Our beautiful poppy field. A whole field of red. Like a red river flowing from the top of the hill.

Winnie looked at me with excitement still clear in her green eyes. Then she looked back at the hill. She let go of my hand and started running up the hill calling for me to come up with her. I started running but Winnie was much faster than me so she reached the top first. I was still running when she looked back with a huge grin and went over the hill.

We never went over the hill. It was too dark down there. I put a push to my step and ran as fast as I have ever ran. I reached the top in seconds.

I looked around, and I looked down the side Winnie went, and all I saw was nothing. Nothing but darkness. No sign of her golden blonde hair or her happy, bright green eyes and no sound of her laughter.

No. All I saw was the darkness and, a locket. Winnie's locket that says Forever Friends. I gave it to her for Christmas last year. She never took it of because not only did it say the truth but it had a picture of us both inside.

Just then there was an ear breaking scream. It was so loud and painful. That wasn't the only thing, it was full of pain.

I realized that I just lost my best friend.

Someone or something took my best friend away from me. Forever.

It was getting dark so I thought I would make my way home without her. Winnie.

I made it out of the woods and walked up to the Bran place where I saw mummy last. I looked up at the clock as I walked in. It had the big hand at twelve and the small hand at seven. I don't remember what that time is. I went into the living room and crawled up on my mummy's lap. She looked down through her deep brown eyes with love, that soon turned to shock.

"Darling there no need to cry. What happened?" I didn't even know that I was crying until now. As for what happened I couldn't tell her everything.

"Winnie left me." I sob broke from my chest. Well I wasn't telling a lie. She did leave me, but not by her own will.

"Well where did you see her last?" Winnie's mummy looked scared. What do I say?

"The park. Behind your house." I couldn't tell her. Somehow I got the feeling that if I did, more people would leave me and I already can't stand losing Winnie.

I held on tight to Winnie's locket and hope that I could keep her alive within me.

I promise Winnie. I will never ever tell the truth.

~Back to the present~

I stood there in the very spot where I found Winnie's locket. I held onto it tightly like I did that night all those years ago. I held my head high and let the wind whip my hair around me. I come here as often as I can without anyone following.

So much has happened since then, but the secrete I made all those years ago, to never tell anybody what really happened.

It's getting dark again. I better get back. I began running down the hill when I forgot about the hole in the ground, I forgot to jump it and instead tripped over it.

I fell forward. The ground rushing towards me too fast and then my head came in contact with a rock.

The world fading fast as I closed my eyes. The locket still wrapped on my neck and the poppy's surrounding me. The last thing I saw was our poppy field. Mine and Winnie's. Forever ours,

Winnie...
