|Kaede's Pov|It was dark. Terribly dark. I felt the noose tug around my neck. All while that horrible half assed rendition spewed from once elegant piano keys. Shuichi-! Rantaro-! Everyone, I'm so sorry! I fought till my limbs gave out. Dangling helplessly as the grand piano snapped shut. I barely felt the pinch of it crushing me. A pitiful end for a pitiful protagonist. I'm so sorry...

......."Rise and shine ursine!"
Light danced beyond my lashes, reluctantly fluttering open to the sound of the four annoying bears singing over me. What's going on? I wondered rubbing my eyes till they readjusted. It was still dark in my room. Which was the first red flag. The second was the monokuma cubs, flashing a bright light in my face. Wait... How-?
"Good! You're awake!" Monophanie cheered first. Then Monokid. "Fuck yeah!!! Our plan worked perfectly!"
Plan? What plan? It didn't matter. None of what they said made any sense anyways. What I wanted, no, needed to know was-
"How the hell am I alive?"
The cubs looked at me perplexed. As if they had no idea. They must know. I thought. There was no way they didn't play a hand in whatever sick game I was now being subjected to.
"Hey! Answer me! How did I get here?" My demanding tone caused them all to jump, nearly leap, off my bed. This bed... I shuttered, running my hand over the cool silky sheets. Was it all.... Just a.... Dream?
....
No! That can't be! My fingers moved unconsciously to my throat. tracing a line where the rope had choked all the life out of me. So tight I remember thinking my head would pop off before it strangled me to death. None of what I remembered was fake. It couldn't have been. So then why...?
Approaching again with meek bouncy steps Monophanie timidly spoke up. "We're running a little behind schedule miss... If you'd like to follow us to the others-"
Immediately my head shot up. "The others?" I instantly pictured everyone I'd left behind. Maki, Kirumi, Himiko, Kiato. But most importantly Shuichi. They were all still alive! My heart swelled with joy imagining their warm smiles and cheerful banter.
"Please, lead me to them." I responded eagerly. Blushing with delight the pink bear hopped down of the mattress and wobbled for the door. I wasted no time getting dressed or inspecting my peculiar surroundings. Dashing out of my room to keep up with the mini bears, I followed them down through the shadowy halls.
There was more twists and turns than I remembered. Was I even in the same building? Carelessly I turned to pass the library. Jogging past its doors, the memory of Rantaro's poor bloody head battered on the floor still fresh in my mind. His blood still fresh on my hands. My jog came to a gradual halt.
Rantaro... We wanted the same thing. To get everybody out of this place. To be their heroes. I'm sorry I ruined it... Taking in a sigh then breathing it out again, my eyes suddenly caught on a poster tacked to the door. "Huh? What's this?" I wondered aloud while squinting at the text.
|Game Rules|
1. no tag teams
2. no time outs
3. denying battles is prohibited
4. no cheating|Rules put together by the administration of despair and team Danganronpa|
I glossed over the poster three more times, just to be sure. None of what it said rang any bells. But there was one word I couldn't help but mutter out. "Danganronpa...?"
We arrived at strange red cushioned doors at the end of one of the halls. I don't remember this being here. However, I quickly brushed it off. Perhaps the monokuma's just added it in. Glimpses of the exisals working construction came to mind. Yeah... That must be it. The four mini bears ushered me up to the giant doors that felt like gates to hell.
"Are you sure there here?" I asked, staring the entrance up and down skeptically. The bears bobbed their heads. "Of course! Everyone's waiting for you just through those doors."
I didn't want to doubt that all my friends survived such an awful killing game. But hearing it from a monokuma's mouth gave me a disgusting feeling in the pit of my stomach. I'll just have to see for myself then. With a determined look in my eyes, reflecting off the door handles as my hands hovered above them, I yanked the doors open and said a prayer. Please be alive. Please be alive. Please.
But to my surprise I was met with an old fashioned elevator and a tiny room that could fit no more than sixteen people max instead. "Wait a minute... This is-!" Before I could get the words out, a rumbling shook under my feet. "Ah!" I cried, my body slamming into the wall.
"Oh! Be careful! They can get real noise down there." I couldn't tell which cub had spoke. They all pushed me into the elevator waving their good bye's and best of lucks. "You're gonna need it~" the red one sang as the doors shut and I began riding down.
The closer and closer to the bottom I got, the louder the music blared. The sound rattled my ear drums to the point where I had to cover them with both trembling hands. I'm heading towards the trial grounds. Why are they all here? Only the worst thoughts came to mind. That they hadn't beaten the game. That they hadn't escaped. That everyone was dead and I was being sent to gaze at the scraps of what remained. I prayed the rest of the way down. Until the elevator buzzed and opened up to the trial room.
"Now! For the moment you've all been waiting for! Celestia vs Byakuya!" In the distance I could hear the infamous monochrome bear cheer. His face lit up on neon screens around the room. One of which glared right at me, hunched over on the elevator floor. As if knowing the dread his face brought me, the nightmare of him orchestrating my death, the black and white fiend smirked.
"Let's get ready to rumble!!!"
