Chapter 2: The Scene

Natalia's POV

"What a good weather to start the day." I smiled at the sky. I entered the police station and greeted everyone.

"You seemed to be in a good mood Nats! " My co-worker, Adrian exclaimed. "Are you getting a raise?"

"No but I wish" I laughed, "I just feel like something good will happen today." I said as I placed my bag on the table.

"ACCIDENT OCCUR AT THE INTERSECTION AT 21 HIGH STREET! ADRIAN, SET THE DETOURS AND TAKE NATALIA WITH YOU!" The inspector announced to all of us while calling the traffic enforcement team.

I rolled my eyes, "Maybe not." I took my badge while Adrian is laughing on my reaction.

"So something good will happen today huh?" He asked mockingly.

"Shut up." I groaned then entered his car.

We contacted the other police department to discuss the detours and gladly they cooperated because sometimes, some of the officers are not doing there job well.

When the routes are already cleared, we head to the scene of the accident. "These people don't know how to follow traffic rules. Look what interruption they caused in this busy city. " Adrian complained.

"Chill dude, if you will always act like that then who is gonna like you?" I teasingly asked him.

He glared at me then slowly parked his car at the side. The inspector approached us and told us to inform the other drivers about the alternative routes.

So Adrian and I separated ways. I knocked at the black BMW car's window. It kinda annoys me that the driver took awhile to open the window but as the window rolled down, I saw the most handsome human being in the city.

I cleared my throat to catch his attention because he seemed to be out of his world. I smiled at him and said, "Sir, I am very sorry for the interruption. Please follow the other the detour that we made to serve as an alternative way to your destination. Thank you very much."

He didn't say anything and just gave me a nod and left. "Is he mute? Is he shy? Or is he a timid person?" I thought to myself.

"Natalia, you're out of the world again." Adrian's voice snapped me out of my trance.

"Oh I'm sorry it's just that I saw the most handsome man in the city." I freaked out at him.

"More handsome than me?" He asked as he raised his eyebrow.

"Yes!" I exclaimed which made his face go down that made me laugh.

The inspector approached and complimented us for a job well done and he also gave us an early break. We went back to the police station to get our things then off we go.

"So where do you want to eat?" I asked Adrian while scanning in my phone about the latest news.

"At the usual?" He replied.

"Well my favorite Korean restaurant just closed recently so it's out of the list now." I said. "I miss samgyupsal." I whined which made Adrian smile.

"How about we try that new Mexican restaurant that opened at the boundary." He suggested which I agreed on because why not.

It took us an hour to travel to that restaurant which made me hungry. As Adrian was parking his car at the restaurant's parking lot, my stomach started to growl.

"With that sound, I bet you can eat all in the menu." He jokingly said. I shrugged my shoulders as a response to his not-so-good joke.

We ordered those meals that are eye-catching in the menu. "So, who's going to pay?" Adrian asked. I took cash from my wallet and gave it to the cashier, "It's on me."

While eating our lunch, Adrian opened the past which he reminisced that I used to have a crush on him when we were on high school that made me cringe at that thought.

We were enjoying our time when Adrian's phone rang. "Hello, Adrian speaking."

Adrian looked so serious when he was listening to the person on the other line. "Yes, we will be on our way." he said then hung up.

"What is it?" I asked him. "We need to go back to the city, someone reported about two missing individuals." he replied to me.

We finished our last serving then went back to the car. The inspector sent some information about the missing people. We made rounds in the city to asked other people if they have seen the missing individuals.

Time passed by so fast that we noticed that the sky is already dark. Adrian and I parted to make the search faster and now here I am, infront of a bar, tempted to have a drink.

When I turned around, I saw the most handsome man that I saw earlier. He approached, "Sir, you're here." I said.

He smiled at me, "You're off duty?" he asked.

"Oh no sir, I am actually looking for Mr. Louis Anderson and his son, Ron Anderson. Someone reported that the father was missing since morning and the son disappeared in late afternoon. " I told him.

He listened to my description about the missing people. Then I realized that I was talking too much, "Oh I am so sorry, I might be delaying your schedule." I said. "Ugh, why are you so talkative Natalia!" I told myself.

"No you're not and actually I am enjoying your company. What's your name?" He said still his smile on his face.

I smiled at him, "I'm Natalia Gomez. How about you?" I asked him back because I should grab this chance to know this gorgeous man's name.

"Marco Diaz." He extended his hand, maybe for a handshake which I accepted happily.

My phone rang and saw it was my other co-worker . "Hello?" I answered. My eyes widened and as I looked at the man still shocked about the news that I heard.

"Okay, I'll be there." I said then ended the call. "I am so sorry Marco but I have to go. The team found the dead bodies of the reported missing people inside the old warehouse at the cargo port."

"Do you want a lift?" He asked politely. I looked at him for a second, having an internal fight with my brain if I should go with him or not.

Then suddenly Adrian approached me. OH GOSH, I almost forgot Adrian. "Natalia, the inspector is looking for you. Let's go." Adrian said eagerly.

I looked at the man that I've just met, "Guess I already have a lift, bye Marco. See you soon." I said and ran with Adrian to his car and head to the scene.

I was shocked when I saw the dead bodies of the two men that we were looking for. They were shot on their heads.

The inspector and the detective's hunch is that they were killed because of business since the old man is the owner of a company that is experiencing its downfall right now.

"Maybe it's the loan shark that killed him and his son." Adrian told the inspector.

"Maybe, but this man asked loans from different big companies all around the world. It will be hard for us to contact these busy corporations." The detective said.

I looked at the list of the companies which the deceased man loaned to and I noticed that the main branch of this company is in the city." Hey, why not we try to ask information from this company. Its location is near, its in the city." I suggested.

"The MD Corporation? It's a big and busy company, how can you talk to the CEO?" Adrian asked me with doubt.

"I have good communication skills you know? Leave it to me." I volunteered.

"You're going to regret this Natalia." I said to myself. "I know."
