The storm raged outside.  Thunder and lightening shook Luisa's little house. The whole neighbourhood had lost power.  Luisa was trying to make Max a little less scared, he had decided he didn’t like this storm.

“C’mon Max, its kind of like Christmas. Let’s get these Candles lit, its okay.”

Max went along with it, but his hand snaked its way into Luisa’s every chance he got.  Luisa’s Mum was fiddling with a Bunsen cooker.

“Wow it’s a bit like camping isn’t it! We can play a game.  Luisa fetch us some bits from the kitchen will you?”

“OK, Luisa went and looked into her dark fridge.  She pulled out some carrots and celery, she went to chop them into batons when something caught her eye in the garden.  A blur flicked across the lawn.  It was big.  Like, a dog… or….

Luisa went to the back door.

The rain hammered down.  She stepped outside.

Hello?” She squinted into the dark.  Nothing.

She looked about, she could hear her mum calling her in the background.

“Hello?” Nothing. She shook her head.

How strange.

She returned to Max and her mum and they played cards.

Later that night, Luisa was in bed, tossing and turning.  She had to be strong not to have nightmares now.

Think of happy things. Think of happy

There was a sharp knock at her window.

Luisa sat up in bed.

What the heck was that?

She slowly approached the window, when she jumped at another loud rap at the windowpane.

Goodness me!

Thunder cracked in the background. She put her fingers round the curtain and pulled it back.

On her windowsill sat Finn.

She pulled open the window, and Finn practically fell into the room drenched through.  He looked completely incongruous to the surroundings.

“Finn, oh my goodness, are you OK?”

He was shivering, dressed in a hooded cloak, with a travel sack on his shoulder. He had lost weight, and his face was lined with three fresh scars. But he looked up at Luisa and his eyes burned with the same intensity.  He slowly extended his paw, inside it was Luisa’s pendant, she felt its spirit immediately, and it responded, glowing a cool blue.

Finn’s face was filled with desperation and he grabbed Luisa by the arm, forcing the pendant into her hand.

Princess please!

You must come back!”
