The only way to get out of this is to use my telekinesis to levitate myself out of this hole. I first developed the power of telekinesis when I was eleven. It was a hard power to develop because of how much focus I needed in order to control it.

My father was helping me with my math homework at the dining table while my older sister sat in the living room playing on her phone as my brother was watching TV. Grudgingly, I sat back in my chair half listening to my father explain pre-algebra. Azura and Terran both looked content, all I wanted to do was play with my fire powers or do some target practice or something other than math! My mind went to Ms. Fervis's class. She teaches on all of the superpowers that have been discovered so far. We went over the top ten rarest powers that a super can get. I started to wonder if maybe I could have a rare power.

The rarest power is the power of mind-reading. I look at my sister, watching her readjust her earbud in her ear as her dark eyes stare into her bright screen. I looked at her for a few seconds trying to focus to see if maybe I have the rare gift of mind-reading. Nothing. The second rarest power is time manipulation, the power to pause time or go back in time. I look around trying to see if maybe I can stop time but nothing happens.

"Caia, are you paying attention?" My father asks.

"Huh? Yea, yea I'm listening." I say as I look back down at my math book. He goes on teaching me how to do linear equations, meanwhile, I look for something else to captivate my attention. I go down the list that Ms. Fervis went over in class, trying to see if I have any rare powers.

I get down to number eight. I look down at my paper to see if I can make it move. My brows furrow trying to focus on the paper floats in mid-air. Amazed by what I have done, I sit back in my chair. The paper hits the table as if nothing had happened. I did it! My father looks at me, his eyes wide.

"Did you just do that?" he asks as he points at the paper.

I smirk at the thought. I just moved my math paper with my mind.

"yea, I think I did," I say smiling.

Azura and Terran sit up, no longer occupied with what they were previously doing.

"What is that, levitation?" Azura adds in from across the room, her eyes are fixed on my paper.

"Telekinesis," I answer. Number eight on the list of the rarest powers that a super can possess.

The sand at the top of the hole starts to gravitate towards me. My heart starts to race. Okay, okay, I need to focus. Taking slow deep breaths I try to slow down my heartbeat and focus my powers on trying to get myself to levitate out. Closing my eyes, I still hear the roaring of the crowd and the yelling of my brother.

"Caia! Come on Caia, you can do this!" Many would say that it's all encouragement but all it's doing is just adding a distraction to my focus. It took years for me to be able to levitate a paper just by thinking about it. Next, I had to learn how to not only levitate but move the paper or some other object. Once I learned to levitate objects everything else was quicker for me to learn.

My hands, flat and parallel to the ground, move my feet off the ground. Opening my eyes I look to the ground to see my feet have left the sand. My hands are jittery. Motioning myself out of the ditch I get slammed back down. The crowd sounds as devastated as I am. I look up to see him standing over me.

"Thought you could get out so easily?" He asks

"Is that all you got, cause frankly, it's getting a little old," I reply, still looking for another way out. Looking up I see him snarling back at me. Maybe if I'm fast enough I can avoid his powers and get out of here. It wouldn't hurt to try.
